Grand old hotel.

Posted Mar 21, 2017
Pros: Everything.
Cons: Although we loved it and would stay again in a heartbeat, it is an older structure and our room and bath were was quite small and dated.
Location: Right on a large sandy beach--great sunset view.
The "Del" was super. Great location and ambiance. We wish we had stayed longer to get to know it better and get better acquainted with Coronado.

Nice and close to the beach

Posted Mar 14, 2017
Room stayed too hot, and closest pool was closed down. Other than that, it was nice.

Beautiful historic hotel on the beach!

Pros: The 128 year old elevator with a live operator added to the charm. Great gift shop too!
Loved the sandcastles on the beach, great food, spectacular views, good walking paths too!

Condition for price

I would expect a ocean side room at 600+ USD a night to have a little more class and comfort than a Motel 8

Great location. Right on the beach

Posted Mar 13, 2017
Pros: Location
Cons: Rooms need to be upgraded
Location: Ghost tours in old town. Super fun.
Hotel room was a little tired - carpet needed to be replaced, however the location makes up for that. We had an ocean view room in the ocean tower. Great to hear the waves all night. Self parking really tight and not cheap. Not a place for larger cars.

Old Hotel

Posted Mar 6, 2017
Pros: Ocean view
Cons: Must be renovated!
Stayed at room 6622, hotel is old and in bad condition. Rug on room had stains and shower curtain had mold and yellow stains all over. Not worth what we paid!

You are paying for the views, not the hotel

Posted Feb 20, 2017
Pros: Beach views were amazing.
Cons: Hot water faded away at night
Location: San Diego Zoo
Hotel Del Coronado has a lot of history, but it is showing its age. Hot water fades at night, rooms are nothing special and restaurants are average. Most of the (high) room price is because it sits on a beautiful beach. Without the beach views there is nothing making this a "must visit" hotel Also, skip the $100 per person Sunday brunch. The hotel makes a big deal out of it, but I found the food average and the service poor.

Wonderful

Posted Feb 15, 2017
Pros: The property has so much character and history
Cons: Better insulation between rooms.
Location: Next to the Del is one of the best beaches in the country. Even if you're not a beach person, it's a nice place to walk.
We had a wonderful night at the Del. The staff is terrific. Our room was surprisingly modern. You should know though, that this is a very old building, and the walls are thin. If there is a function in the courtyard, the staff will be tearing down tables at all hours of the night. So, just bring good earplugs and a sleep mask as well. Also be aware that not all room are in the old original building. I apparently made my reservation for a room in one of the other buildings because I didn’t know to check. Luckily, we were able to change rooms and it all worked out. We’ve been wanting to stay at the Del for a very long time, and we weren’t disappointed.
