Great spa, location, and rooms!

Posted Dec 5, 2016
I would definitely recommend this hotel to others! I had a great time at the spa including one of the best massages I have ever had! The spa does not have wait staff there to order food and drinks from. You have to order at the front desk in the spa and room service brings it which is not my favorite. But, not a deal killer. The hotel location is great! Right across the street from a cute shopping plaza with a variety of restaurants. And, the rooms were really nice, comfortable, and well decorated!

Morbieder Charm

Posted Nov 7, 2016

Would like to return but hotel needs to improve.

Posted Oct 17, 2016
Pros: It's location, most of its staff, pool facilities, lounge area and that the valet provided beach equipment, we had a fun day boogie boarding.
Cons: Lack of cleanliness in the rooms, some of the staff that had a great story but never followed up and the restaurant
Location: We had exceptional weather that week sunny, not too hot the beaches were wonderful, as I mentioned many restaurants around this area.
Wonderful location excellent views very nice pool area really like the lounge lay out in the lobby but unfortunately we had a very dirty room at check-in and after talking to the hotel twice it never really got cleaned although each time it got a little better. Eight out of 10 staff members that we spoke with were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Unfortunately two out of 10 for the most part were responsive in what they say, but not really what they do. We asked the pool attended for a plastic knife and spoon he said he would get it but he never brought it back. When I went to the kitchen although, they produced one right away. The oddest thing happened a few days before we left. I was taking a shower all soaped up and suddenly the water turn to scalding hot with no cold. Maintenance arrived and discovered that there was no cold water anymore for the shower or the sink or even the toilet? The hotel was nice enough to let us use the shower in the room next-door and the problem was resolved by the morning. We had breakfast on the first morning and it was subpar, the potatoes were most likely frozen at one time the eggs didn't really look like eggs probably powdered and the bacon was oily. We like healthy good food and since we were there for six nights we ended up finding some really nice places to eat around town such as: Jakes Delmar, The Prep Kitchen, Zel's and Americana Restaurant.

Stay

We have stayed there for many years. Staff all great with exception of bartender in lobby who worked last Thurs. not hospitable at all. Seat in room(yellow) looked dirty. I was a resident manager for Marriott for 11 years.

Great location!

Posted Sep 17, 2016
Pros: Location, service, history
Great location with the proximity to the beach, restaurants and bars. Del Mar is a more subdued area compared to other areas on the coast. The one negative at the resort was that there were weddings on the terrace and if you are looking for quiet, most of the rooms face the terrace - however, the music and festivities typically wind down around 10-11 pm.

Perfect!

Posted Sep 12, 2016
Pros: Style, service and location were everything we were looking for.
Cons: We would come back without changing anything. Could use some baskets on the bikes! Would be nice to have the lap pool working.
Location: Fantastic restaurants and boutique shopping within a few blocks. Short drive to Torrey Pines Park, design district. Excellent beach across the street
This hotel was perfect for what we were looking for - an urban getaway across the street from a beach yet within a couple blocks of shops and superb restaurants. Beautifully appointed but undergoing reno's this fall, so excited to see the new look in 2017. We are already planning our return. Staff was superb, food excellent. Didn't use the award-winning spa as it was pricey. Nice services for additional $35 daily resort fee - shuttle, bikes, wifi, beach supplies, tennis rackets. The pool is nice but a little small for swimming. Also had a small lap pool but wasn't in service when we were there. Gym was well equipped.
