Great location!

Posted Sep 17, 2016
Pros: Location, service, history
Great location with the proximity to the beach, restaurants and bars. Del Mar is a more subdued area compared to other areas on the coast. The one negative at the resort was that there were weddings on the terrace and if you are looking for quiet, most of the rooms face the terrace - however, the music and festivities typically wind down around 10-11 pm.

Perfect!

Posted Sep 12, 2016
Pros: Style, service and location were everything we were looking for.
Cons: We would come back without changing anything. Could use some baskets on the bikes! Would be nice to have the lap pool working.
Location: Fantastic restaurants and boutique shopping within a few blocks. Short drive to Torrey Pines Park, design district. Excellent beach across the street
This hotel was perfect for what we were looking for - an urban getaway across the street from a beach yet within a couple blocks of shops and superb restaurants. Beautifully appointed but undergoing reno's this fall, so excited to see the new look in 2017. We are already planning our return. Staff was superb, food excellent. Didn't use the award-winning spa as it was pricey. Nice services for additional $35 daily resort fee - shuttle, bikes, wifi, beach supplies, tennis rackets. The pool is nice but a little small for swimming. Also had a small lap pool but wasn't in service when we were there. Gym was well equipped.

Wish we didn't have a view of valet parking lot.

Pros: Nice open lobby and comfortable beds
Cons: Garden rooms need to be facing an actual garden.
Location: We went to Pacifica and it was great. Jake's for dinner was an amazing recommendation....best meal this weekend.
Good overnighter trip but wish that for that amount of money that I spent I would have had a better view than the front parking lot. Staff was great in all areas of the hotel. Wish that the spa had open spots for a couples massage but they were booked.

Best spot in Del Mar

Posted Sep 6, 2016
Pros: everything
Cons: nothing
Location: Del Mar horse track...shopping...great restaurants
Best place to hang out in Del Mar. Close to the track, too! The food is excellent. There is live music at night. Walking distance to the beach and downtown Del Mar I wouldn't stay anywhere else! Also might have a celebrity sighting or two. They even have a welcome sign that welcomes the dogs that are visiting in this dog friendly hotel!

Boutique hotel steps from the beach

Posted Aug 7, 2016
I've stayed at L'Auberge many times over the past 20 years. Staff is friendly and very accommodating. The location is unbeatable- you are just steps from the beach and many great dining options (from casual to upscale). The hotel has had an update since my last visit and the style is now gives a welcoming and airy California beach contemporary vibe. The lobby is beautiful but also intimate. The rooms are nice (but not at the same level as the lobby) and are small. There was more wear on the furniture than I would expect in the rooms. With the exception of the suites, none of the guest rooms have bathtubs in the (also quite small) bathrooms- something to keep in mind if traveling with young children as we were. But still, overall a great stay and I would recommend staying here if you want to stay somewhere special.
