Room Terrible-Only plus is walking distance beach

Pros: The only thing we liked about this hotel was that the location was nice. Close to the pier, restaurants and shopping.
Cons: The condition of the rooms, the carpet absolutely needs to be replaced and breakfast either needs to be described more accurately or more diversity.

We booked this room for 8 nights because it was close to the beach, 100 yards I believe they advertised. We went for our son's Marine graduation. It is close enough to hear the waves but NO view and the walk is through a parking lot. So do not book this hotel if you would like a view. I don't recall them advertising a view. The room was terrible. The carpet was visibly dirty, stained and old. I didn't feel comfortable walking around barefoot. The room is very old. The beds were ok with the exception of the top covers, I didn't feel comfortable having them on me while I slept but the covers underneath were plenty. There was an iron but no ironing board. There was a coffee maker but no coffee to make. We asked for a roll away bed for 2 nights, it was an additional $10 per night. The mattress on the roll away was pretty worn, dipping in the middle but we didn't expect much comfort for a roll away so that was fine. The bathroom was old but mostly clean. Maid service was good, always replenishing our towels and toiletries and they were always friendly. The front desk staff was neither friendly nor unfriendly. Not a welcome feel. It advertised a continental breakfast which consisted ONLY of baked goods. I have a gluten sensitivity so this was miserable for me not being able to eat anything. No fruit, no yogurt or cereal. My family liked the baked good that were provided. There was coffee and orange juice. We were VERY disappointed in the breakfast!

First of all, we do thank you for your review. We are in the process of updating the remainder of the rooms including the carpets. I coincidentally just had the carpets professionally cleaned, but the look of the old carpets really shows the wear. The breakfast is delivered fresh each morning from a local bakery. I really wish we had a breakfast room so that we could focus on having more of a real selection of fruits, and cereals for our guests. In the lobby, we are simply just too limited in regards to space. We do hope you will try us again as a return guest, and that you will find everything in the room to be new.

Great location

Pros: Large rooms
Cons: the walls are a bit thin
Location: beach, great shopping and restaurants - must check out The Grass Skirt Bar
This hotel is in a great location right on Pacific Beach with large clean rooms and accomodating staff. We would definitely come back to this hotel.

Very close to the beach and a lot of bars

Nice decent hotel with a walking distance to the beach. Free covered parking. Lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance.

Pleasantly surprised!

Based on reviews, I wasn't expecting much! However, the room was beautifully remodeled! It has an excellent location. It's proximity to the beach makes it an excellent choice for anyone looking to stay and enjoy San Diego.

DIRTY ROOM

Very close to the beach,the room smelled,ac or heat did not work,old furniture in room,every time we went to the office it always had a sign be back momentarily.had to wait at least 10 minutes before staff showed up at front office

Close to the beach

Not 5 stars but perfect for an over night stay and you want to be close to the beach!! It's an average beach hotel.
