In town for Business and Marine Graduation

Posted Feb 2, 2016
Pros: The restaurant and bar in the hotel is great. Delicious food without being overly expensive.
Cons: Bathroom doors are stylish and "cool" but provides no privacy. I plan meetings and 2 adults sharing the room would be very uncomfortable
Location: Perfectly located near the Gaslamp district -- walking distance to everything. Even the Midway & Fishmarket restaurant are less than a mile away.
Hotel was really great. The location is perfect as it is not exactly in the middle of the Gaslamp but is simply a block walk away. Weekend exterior noise can be loud but not to the point of being a distraction from the stay. Overall staff was great but will make one complaint. Kimpton is know for getting anything you need during your stay. I asked for 3 sets of disposable eating utensils, was offered real utensils but when I mentioned I was taking it to the Marine Base to have lunch with my son he wouldn't allow me to take them. I was then told I should walk to the drug store down the road to buy my own. This is the same hotel that brags they accommodated a guest request for a live goldfish in the room.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback! We appreciate your kind comments as well as sharing areas that we can improve. I'm sorry to hear that we did not come through for you as related to the plastic utensils. You are right, that is a simple request, and it sounds like we missed the mark on that. We're so glad to hear that our location worked well for you and hope you will be back for another visit in the future. Sincerely, JJH

Pros: Brilliant room and wine hour!
Cons: Would have been nice to have coffee making facilities in the room.
Location: Great location right near gas lamp and the harbour. Zoo a 5 minute drive.
Lovely stay, great room with fab views as we were on the 18th floor. Nice extras with wine hour. Only small down side was valet parking was expensive and it took ages for the water in our room to heat up.

I am sorry our design was not comfortable or to your liking. That is disappointing to hear and certainly not the impression we wish to leave. Thank you for your feedback and again, our apologies. Sincerely

Modern hotel in downtown San Diego

Posted Dec 29, 2015
Pros: Proximity to downtown, lots of dining choices, relatively fast Wi-Fi, easy to connect.
Everything was perfect, except that the parking fee was somewhat steep ($40 a night). Another rather peculiar detail is that the toilet is right next to the bed, with the door between them having a large gap, so there's no privacy in that regard (unless you're staying alone in that room, of course).

Hotel in downtown SD

Posted Dec 2, 2015
The bed was full size not queen. Terrible lighting in the room. Accessible to downtown restaurants and night life.

Spontaneous Bday Weekend in SD

Posted Nov 30, 2015
Booked a room at the Palomar last min. Hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. Received free drink vouchers to hotel bar upon checking in. Our room was beautiful and emmaculate and the bed was like sleeping on cloud 9. Hotel location is ideal if you are planning to explore all that downtown has to offer. Will definitely stay here again next time I'm in SD and so should you!

Great hotel in convenient part of Gaslamp district

Posted Nov 30, 2015
Pros: Convenient, walk-able area, friendly staff, great rooms
Located in a very walkable area of town, right in the heart of the Gaslamp district. We had an event at the Del but didn't want to pay Del-area prices and wanted more access to entertainment. This hotel is next door to the House of Blues, nearby to many restaurants, shops, theaters, etc. 15-20 minute walk to Seaport Village and the pier. Hotel itself is a nice modern spot, with a heated pool and pool-bar, lovely lounge, good restaurant, comfortable rooms with soft bedding and a great shower/bath. Perfect amenities for adults/couples (hosted wine hour, for example). Would definitely stay again, especially if you have an event in the convention-center or nearby area.

The hotel staff was very helpful. The hotel is very modern and fancy. Perfect for an overnight stay to explore the downtown nignt life. Beware the walls are very thin. We could hear the newly weds next door all night long.
