Excellent location, doesn't break the bank

Posted Jul 20, 2016
Pros: Location.
Cons: Rooms are a little dreary.
Location: Little Italy--food, shopping. Easy walk to other city attractions.
The location is excellent for Little Italy and proximity to the Green Line. You can easily walk to Downtown and the Convention center from here (15 minutes). Dining in the area is fantastic. Ballast Point and Bolt Breweries are steps away. Rooms are basic and the price is fair for the neighborhood. If you are expecting luxury you will be disappointed. But if you are staying in this area and spending THAT much time in your hotel you are doing it wrong.

Decent Hotel but could use work.

Posted Jun 21, 2016
Pros: The staff was very nice and polite. The rooms were very clean but a little dated.
It wasn't horrible but wasn't exactly comfortable. The room was much smaller than expected. Bed was very hard, like sleeping on a floor. You could hear everything from outside. We were close to the restaurant ice machine so you could hear when they were breaking ice and filling the bucket. We were close to the airport so you could hear the planes flying over as they were landing.

Good spot but hotel seemed a little dirty. I would probably stay there next time if I were to make a short trip to San Diego. Rooms were kept nice, there was a bit of a plumbing issue in the shower but otherwise tolerable.

My vacation started everytime I left my room

Posted May 16, 2016
Couldn't wait to go home. Motel turned hotel. It takes more than paint and fancy throw pillows to update this place. The lobby was jazzy as hell to lure you into thinking your room would look similar.. Lies. Breakfast was interesting; eggs, potatoes, cut up sausage links, muffins, and fruit. Seems descent, but if you didnt book directly with the hotel and through Expedia, you had to pay $12. The highlight was that the staff was really nice and they had the channels Bravo and ESPN. You could tell they were goal minded and professional with the guests needs. It made you look past the many flaws in the room such as the 2 outlets In the room being #1 by the room door behind the curtain and #2 the sink area. I enjoyed wondering why the microwave was on the desk unplugged, but I loved carrying it over to the sink plugging it up and holding it while it cooked my food. The trash cans had no liner so I can only imagine the bacteria it saw daily. The queen bed was really a full, the walls were thin says the guy who I heard next door say, "Why do ppl take showers at night on vacation." He equally didn't know I could hear everything in his room as well.#Nightmares and Daymares. Consider all options other than free airport shuttle before booking here.

Excellent staff and view from the top floor!

Posted May 8, 2016
Pros: It was conveniently located to MCRD San Diego, which was perfect because we were in the area to attend our son's graduation from USMC Boot Camp.
Cons: Our only issue with the room was that you literally had to lean on the door to get it open and then slam it 3 or 4 times before the latch would hold.
Location: The view from the 5th floor veranda is awesome for watching sunsets and airplanes arriving at San Diego International.
The staff were awesome! From the moment we checked in until we left each person was very helpful and professional!
