Great situationPosted Nov 30, 2015
Pros: The rooftop
Cons: The bathroom is very small
The hotel is placed in the historic distric of Gaslamp Quarter, you have a lot of restaurants, shops, bars around, and you can walk everywhere. The best of the hotel is the awesome rooftop!!! And there is a 24 hours bar that has amazing food.

Hotel is awesome! I stay here every time i'm in the gaslamp quarter. 24 hour Brian'a restaurant (which also does room service) is delicious and I love the roof top that you can go hang out on!

At checking in, the attendant asked me to sign a disclaimer that I do not mind the noise at the hotel, because it is in the Gaslamp District with all its revelers 24/7. They should have an advanced warning about that on the website rather than trapping a client into a situation he cannot get out of. Even though my room was reasonably quiet, I felt cheated by this behavior. Truth be told they told me that if the room were too noisy that would move me to some upper floor. There was no need for that.

Great vintage hotel with panoramic views of San Diego. Located steps from wonderful restaurants, shopping at Horton Plaza and the epic U.S. Grant.

Sample turn-of-the-century charm in San DiegoPosted Nov 20, 2015
Pros: Historic architecture and ambiance in San Diego's Gaslamp district is wonderful. Having a true 24-hour diner as part of the facility is a bonus.
Cons: The carpeting on the main staircase is getting a bit worn in places; in keeping with the age of the facility, but still a bit unexpected.
Location: Live performances - art, music, stage - are a few steps away in all directions. Numerous options for great food and drink are everywhere.
Checking into a hotel at the end of a long travel day can be a hassle; not so at this one. The desk staff were incredibly polite and upbeat. Stepping back in time with the marble staircase and architecture was surprisingly relaxing. Even though it is located in the heart of the entertainment district, there is little to no outside noise evident in the rooms themselves (note that the room in question WAS on the 8th floor!). The view from the rooftop patio is a hidden gem; the vibrancy of the cityscape has to be seen to be believed!

Nice, historic hotel in middle of all the action!Posted Nov 19, 2015
Pros: Historic and old.
Cons: Nothing, really.
Knowing that it was an older hotel when we booked it, our stay was delightful. The front desk staff was warm and friendly and the hotel is charming and in the middle of the Gaslamp district.

room was very small.the commode would not flush even after maintenance came up and worked on it.said we would have to hold the handle down until the bowl was empty.sometimes twice.the bathtub had the same drainage issue.when taking a shower you would be standing in your own bathing water throughout the showering time.nasty!!!!the sign posted in the lobby restrooms read,"WE MAY LOOK PRETTY ON THE OUTSIDE,BUT OUR PLUMBING IS 100 YEARS OLD".that is no understatement.that leads me to demand some if not all refund for the stay.please advise.
