Great hotel in a historic building!

Posted Feb 22, 2017
We had a wonderful time! The customer service was great and our daughter got a kick out of the old elevator.

Affordable Hotel In the Gaslamp

Posted Feb 10, 2017
Pros: Price and location were great. The deck on the 11th floor is amazing to go up to and check out the city skyline at dusk.
The room was small and modest, but it was all I needed. I worked in the room one day and attended a conference the other day.

Right on the gaslamp! Close to everything

It's not the fanciest hotel, but you have everything you need. The room is clean and the bed is super comfy! Staff is super friendly!

Nice hotel with an interesting elevator.

Posted Feb 9, 2017
Pros: Loacation
Cons: Perfect for the price
Location: Gaslamp area has lots of bars, shops and a mall close by. With a short cab ride you can be in Little Italy, Old Town, and Balboa quickly.
Elevator is from 1913 fun to go up and down in one that old. Hotel is in the gaslamp area. You can walk to everything. Mall is only 2 blocks away. Wonderful rooftop terrace overlooking San Diego.

Very outdated - avoid if possible.

Posted Feb 8, 2017
Pros: Staff were great. Restaurant downstairs was good.
Cons: - Elevator is terrible - Rooms are tiny and not clean - Bathroom is uncomfortable and outdated - View from hotel room was terrible
Location: Location is good during the day - but very sketchy outside at night (approached by a meth addict outside a midnight who demanded money).
Although the staff were kind, the Ramada Gaslamp was outdated and not inspiring. The elevator is very, very old and slow. The rooms are ridiculously tiny. The bathrooms are tiny and outdated. Poor excuse for a hotel - doesn't hold up against a mid-tier Holiday Inn. Would not recommend 2/10.

Old and run down

Posted Feb 4, 2017
Great staff. Very helpful. The place is old and not updated. elevator was the fastest in the world in 1913, according to the hotel, but it's the slowest in the world now. even if heat is off in the room, the heat pipes run through each room and generate incredible heat. had to run the AC to offset it. rooms are tiny. not worth the $195 per night plus tax etc. that I was charged.

Old, uncomfortable, dark.

Posted Jan 28, 2017
It is unbelievable that there are still hotels like this in operation. With the excuse of us historical value,? You receive the amenities of an abandoned roadside motel. Stay away if you have any expectation of cooking with your soul unharmed:? Dark, oppressive rooms with mattresses that have been used for decades and your washing sink right by your bed. Discolored and Bates's motel style bathtubs. Only it's location in Gaslamp send to justify its existence, along with the unsafe elevators that were the fastest in the world… in 1913!

Very cold, noisy old room. Carpet was wet, dirty

Posted Jan 27, 2017
Awesome location but costs 27.00 a day to park. The room was dirty, old and noisy. You could not only hear the people in the room next to you but everything on the street.
