Nice hotel but no free parking or Internet

Posted Feb 5, 2016
I was not impressed with the four staring rating of this hotel because I had to pay for parking and the Internet. I have stayed at really nice 3 star hotels in which both were offered for free.

Not what I was expecting, hard beds.

Posted Feb 2, 2016
Pros: Location
Cons: Ben S., Front Office Manager; get employees trained with proper management support.
Location: Is Southern Cali.... everything is fun... but traffic. The beach nearby is awesome!
I stayed in (2) rooms on the 8th floor for (3) concurrent nights. The first night we expected some noise with the holiday, but it was worse then I hoped. The second night it got worse, to a point where I very nicely asked the kids running around to please try and keep it down. After that didn't work we called the front desk on (2) separate occasions. During our 2nd phone call the front desk agent informed us that other rooms were complaining as well and that if the noise did not stop they would be asked to leave the hotel. The third night we called the front desk and we were told that their room had notes on it already and security would be sent up. About an hour later I personally went down to the front desk where I was told the same thing again. I asked for the chaperons room number and asked why they weren't removed from the hotel as I was told. The front desk agent said they did not know the chaperons room number and did not know about their possible removal from the hotel. I know this is not how a typical Marriott treats it's well behaved guests and normally operates. Is this property the poor service black sheep of Marriott properties? At checkout a gesture of apology was given and they removed parking and room service charges from our folio. I would rather had sleep for the (3) nights, but at least I know not to stay there ever again!

It was a sub par hotel.

Posted Jan 28, 2016
Pros: It is in a beautiful city.
Cons: Parking rates. Give the guest cheeper rates. I know your response "we are competitive in the area". This is a Marriott, your better than that!!!
Location: Alfanzo Mexican restaurant downtown La Jolla is amazing.
I was a little disappointed with the hotel. We had beer bottles and glasses directly in front of our door from other guests. The remained there for 3 days. When we arrived at the bar we were never even asked if we wanted a drink, but others around us did. When I went to the bar after about 30 minutes, the young lady who served me seemed annoyed. After our drinks were finished she still asked others around us if they wanted another drink, but again skipped us. Parking is the same for everyone even if you don't stay at the hotel. Unless you are there for a seminar then it is much cheeper. The restaurant is a joke, don't bother. Maids were ok, but nothing more than that. Only left us decaf even after asking for regular coffee.

Wouldn't go there again

Restaurant waiters weren't very good, didn't get service on one occasion. Front desk seemed disorganized.

Good Location, old building

Posted Jan 19, 2016
Pros: Location and comfortable beds.
Cons: Better room service and hotel needs renewal.
Location: Location is great in La Jolla, is just steps away from UTC mall.
This is an old Marriott wich has been renewed in some areas. Lobby and front desk has a nice view, but the inside halls are so 80´s. We reserved in advance a room with king bed wich wasnt available when we arrive at 9:00 pm, they gave us a two double beds with no upgrade at all, also we asked for non feder pillows since we are allergic and they took more than 2 hours to arrive.

We found it a convenient location, close to freeways and UCSD. A little further from La Jolla beaches but still an easy drive. Rooms were very clean, but a bit noisy because of its closeness to area hospitals. The Starbucks in the lobby is very nice on an early morning wake up! While it's big and convenient it's not luxury, just a nice, clean hotel. We got a great deal on Expedia!
