"The staff here rocks "
I love this place. The grounds are beautiful. It was my birthday and they gave me free breakfast for 2 at their swankiest restaurant. It was delicious and I know food very well. Then, they were super cool about me waking up after checkout time:) Also, the valets and bell men were super high vibe and helpful. The bed is comfortable and the one king bed garden room is spacious and easy to get to. It was also secluded and had a huge front porch. The room was clean and the cleaning lady was so sweet. She actually cleaned my room one day while I napped. I swear had I let her tuck me in she would have been stoked. It didn't smell brand new. I burned some candles and then it became morecozy smelling. I would recommend this location to friends. It is the nicest hotel near Ocean Beach.

We had a great breakfast at the resort as well as drinks in the evening. The place is old but it is very cool. Pools are clean. Landscaping is very beautiful. Get a room on the water.

"Our First time to Hotel Del"
This was my first time staying at the hotel, and second trip for my husband. The history, craftsmanship and grounds are amazing. The price you pay per night, sets a pretty high bar of expectations. We had a great time, but left a little disappointed. We flew in from Seattle and tried to check in just before 10pm on Friday 10/2. There were a few folks in line to check in front of us, but NO ONE at the front reception was surprising. Then a few more couples came to the front reception desk for help on separate items and still no one was there at Reception. Eventually, a nice gentleman came around and we couldn't help but hear the hotel was fully booked, and the couple at the front of the line, the hotel Del didn't have any record of a reservation for them. They were asked nicely to step aside. I would highly suggest having more than one person work reception Friday nights, to greet incoming guests when they arrive, even an acknowledgement of your arrival goes a long ways, and then the extra staff could also help folks check in swiftly and help with customers questions/issues.

"Beautiful grounds"
This appears to mainly be a golf resort. I don't play golf but needed a place to stay in the area. The hotel was older, two story but no elevator. It had a little of the older hotel odor but was clean. The room was nice, the bed comfortable and the bathroom had a separate area for grooming, from the toilet and shower. The staff was very pleasant and the lobby, bar and restaurant area were pleasant and friendly.

Best and Worst Times to Visit San Diego

Some say it’s always 70 F and sunny in San Diego. While this coastal city does boast very comfortable temperatures year round, the area cools down a bit during the winter, especially at night. The winter months also see more rain than the rest of the year, but it usually doesn’t sprinkle for more than a day or two at a time.

At the beach, the temperatures are slightly cooler than inland, even during the summer months. Also down at the beach, during late spring the marine layer sometimes causes fog to roll in, which has led the locals to nickname the months May Gray and June Gloom. Although the fog usually burns off by the afternoon, avoid this time of year if you’re looking to soak up the California sunshine all day long.

The summertime is bright and sunny with temperatures hovering around the 70s and 80s F. However, because the kids are out of school and the weather is perfect for a day at the beach, crowds tend to take over this SoCal spot, particularly from June through August. Consider visiting during September or early October when the tourists have left but the beach weather is still lingering.

    Things to Do

Take advantage of the pleasant weather and spend some time outdoors. Head to La Jolla Cove, and watch the seals and sea lions basking on the rocks, or mosey through the gardens and museums of Balboa Park. While you’re in town, take surf lessons at Pacific Beach, or spend the afternoon picnicking at Mission Bay. If you’re in the mood for some hiking, hit the coastal trails at Torrey Pines or climb Cowles Mountain for sweeping views of the city.

After soaking up all that sunshine, take some time to get know San Diego’s history and culture. Begin your adventures in the Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. Considered the birthplace of San Diego, this site is home to the city’s first courthouse and public school house, along with adobe houses and other artifacts and vintage structures. Then visit the Presidio of San Diego, which dates back to 1769, and take a tour of the William Heath Davis House in the Gaslamp Quarter. After a day of exploration, rest up at one of the top resorts in or near San Diego.
