This resort is on a great location on Mission Bay. The resort is obviously aging, the rooms older motor court style, but nice enough if the price is right.

"Lovely hotel and conveniently located!"
We had a wonderful jam packed 4 day stay! This is a lovely hotel, the bar is beautiful, the rooms were clean and the staff was very attentive. If it were closer to the water, it would be my only choice to stay in San Diego. There is a CVS and the shopping center around the corner if you forgot anything. The hotel is conveniently located to just about everything and within walking distance. If you prefer not to drive to San Diego or rent a car and pay the $45 per day parking, there is a $39 hop on/off tram right outside of the hotel that can take you to most of the sights you'll want to see; tickets can be purchased from the concierge. You are also close enough to the Gaslamp district that has so many restaurant options, but not in the heart, where it's really busy and noisy in the evenings. I highly recommend this location, especially if you can get a deal on Expedia!

"Great location for beach and sun"
Excellent location if you plan to spend a significant time on the beach. The bayside beach is a nice retreat with clean groomed sand. Chairs and umbrellas are placed daily and collected in the evening. Nice selection of available activities - bike rentals, paddle boards, sailboats, etc. The pool is also a nice option, particularly for young children. Mission Beach is only a few blocks away for a day taking in the wind and surf. Room accomodations are decent for the price. The bathroom was a bit dated and on the small side for a resort, though the small kitchenette was a welcome bonus in our room. A few minor issues include the vending machines not operating properly, and one of the two tower elevators was out of service for over a day. Food at the restaurant was overall good though typically pricey. There are many better food options on Mission Blvd if you are willing to walk and explore. Parking costs are extra, which I did not know prior to arrival (though may have overlooked when booking). The luau was ok though the best seating was reserved for several business groups at the hotel. The steamboat ride was a disappointment for our family, though may be fun for those in the late night party crowd. Would definitely consider booking the Catamaran next time around.

Best and Worst Times to Visit San Diego

Some say it’s always 70 F and sunny in San Diego. While this coastal city does boast very comfortable temperatures year round, the area cools down a bit during the winter, especially at night. The winter months also see more rain than the rest of the year, but it usually doesn’t sprinkle for more than a day or two at a time.

At the beach, the temperatures are slightly cooler than inland, even during the summer months. Also down at the beach, during late spring the marine layer sometimes causes fog to roll in, which has led the locals to nickname the months May Gray and June Gloom. Although the fog usually burns off by the afternoon, avoid this time of year if you’re looking to soak up the California sunshine all day long.

The summertime is bright and sunny with temperatures hovering around the 70s and 80s F. However, because the kids are out of school and the weather is perfect for a day at the beach, crowds tend to take over this SoCal spot, particularly from June through August. Consider visiting during September or early October when the tourists have left but the beach weather is still lingering.

    Things to Do

Take advantage of the pleasant weather and spend some time outdoors. Head to La Jolla Cove, and watch the seals and sea lions basking on the rocks, or mosey through the gardens and museums of Balboa Park. While you’re in town, take surf lessons at Pacific Beach, or spend the afternoon picnicking at Mission Bay. If you’re in the mood for some hiking, hit the coastal trails at Torrey Pines or climb Cowles Mountain for sweeping views of the city.

After soaking up all that sunshine, take some time to get know San Diego’s history and culture. Begin your adventures in the Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. Considered the birthplace of San Diego, this site is home to the city’s first courthouse and public school house, along with adobe houses and other artifacts and vintage structures. Then visit the Presidio of San Diego, which dates back to 1769, and take a tour of the William Heath Davis House in the Gaslamp Quarter. After a day of exploration, rest up at one of the top resorts in or near San Diego.

Some of these resorts include nightclubs and golf courses, while others boast spa services and game rooms. To top it all off, you may even find an assortment of all-inclusive resorts. This type of lodging bundles your meals and activities into the price of the room. Geography
