"Weekend getaway with my kids and parents"
First time at this hotel and it is very nice and modern. The rooms are comfortable. My only issue is long wait for the buffet (over 45 min) and because kids are not allowed on casino floor we couldn't have breakfast at the Cafe and their nowhere else to eat at the casino unless you got pastries at coffee bar. They wouldn't let us pass through to go to cafe and our kids are teenagers. Whoever designed it, didn't plan well. They said they are expanding it next year so hopefully they will do a better job then. It's not very "family-friendly" thus far. Since pool was closed, not much for kids to do unless you go bowling across the street or shopping. I would suggest that adults come here only

"Hip, fun and non-traditional hotel."
Check-in was fast and easy. The room was stylish and modern which adequately fit our taste . I like the Ivy system that allows you to request room service via text messages. All of the staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed Bar 207 and Float Bar to unwind after a busy day of activities. The connected restaurant Nobu was a treat too, great food and service. Overall, I think if you'd like to try a hotel that's unique, fun and refreshing, this is a great choice!

"NICE HOTEL IN GOOD LOCATION"
I ENJOYED THE SOFIA HOTEL. GREAT LOCATION AND EXCELLENT AMENITIES. CLEAN COMFORTABLE ROOMS. I MISSED THE YOGA CLASS IN THE MORNING AND DIDN'T GET A CHANCE TO BORROW A BIKE SINCE IT WAS ONLY A ONE NIGHT STAY. I WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK.

"Very enjoyable stay at Loews Coronado Resort"
We very much enjoyed staying at Loews Coronado Resort--the room was large and faced the water, great pool area, yoga classes, nice bar. The hotel has a breezy comfortable feel and provided a number of both indoor and outdoor areas that were for good relaxing, reading etc. The free shuttle bus to Coronado provided good service, particularly as we chose not to rent a car for the six days we spent at the resort. The hotel has easy access to a great walking beach on the Pacific side of Coronado Island which is much less busy that the beaches in Coronado itself.

"Nice Getaway"
My friend and I attended a concert at a casino nearby and decided to make a little getaway out of it by staying over an extra day. We arrived a little early for check in but were able to get into our room right away. There was a short wait but the staff was apologetic for the wait and the guy who checked us in was very pleasant and efficient. It kind of set the tone for all of our interactions with the staff. They were unfailingly welcoming, polite and helpful. There was some pretty serious weather on our second day so we decided to stay at the hotel rather than venture out. Unless one wants to gamble or eat nonstop there's not a whole lot to do right there on the premises, especially in bad weather. We did enjoy the Mexican restaurant - great margaritas - The Cafe and Pinks. We went to Corked to see a fun band One Less Monkey. The band was fun and talented but the show was delayed for 90 minutes because there was some interference with the Penn & Teller show next door. It seemed like a petty issue that should have been addressed more professionally and sensibly, especially since some buzz kill staff member literally insisted they stop playing after an hour despite the band and the crowd - aka customers- wanting to continue the party once it finally got started. Overall we had a good experience. I do have to mention our room was lovely and mostly clean but there was some pretty thick dust in the TV area and hard water stains in the shower. Still, we'll be back.

The hotel staff was very nice and accommodating. Breakfast was slightly disappointing as, when booking, I paid an additional $40 to have breakfast included and it was only fruit a few cold items and coffee and juice. Not worth the amount paid, go to the restaurants nearby. The coffee and juice were available all day, though. The location is perfect, so close to everything in little Italy! It's definitely feels like a little European hostel, as it is compact. Overall it was nice for the one night stay.

Best and Worst Times to Visit San Diego

Some say it’s always 70 F and sunny in San Diego. While this coastal city does boast very comfortable temperatures year round, the area cools down a bit during the winter, especially at night. The winter months also see more rain than the rest of the year, but it usually doesn’t sprinkle for more than a day or two at a time.

At the beach, the temperatures are slightly cooler than inland, even during the summer months. Also down at the beach, during late spring the marine layer sometimes causes fog to roll in, which has led the locals to nickname the months May Gray and June Gloom. Although the fog usually burns off by the afternoon, avoid this time of year if you’re looking to soak up the California sunshine all day long.

The summertime is bright and sunny with temperatures hovering around the 70s and 80s F. However, because the kids are out of school and the weather is perfect for a day at the beach, crowds tend to take over this SoCal spot, particularly from June through August. Consider visiting during September or early October when the tourists have left but the beach weather is still lingering.

    Things to Do

Take advantage of the pleasant weather and spend some time outdoors. Head to La Jolla Cove, and watch the seals and sea lions basking on the rocks, or mosey through the gardens and museums of Balboa Park. While you’re in town, take surf lessons at Pacific Beach, or spend the afternoon picnicking at Mission Bay. If you’re in the mood for some hiking, hit the coastal trails at Torrey Pines or climb Cowles Mountain for sweeping views of the city.

After soaking up all that sunshine, take some time to get know San Diego’s history and culture. Begin your adventures in the Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. Considered the birthplace of San Diego, this site is home to the city’s first courthouse and public school house, along with adobe houses and other artifacts and vintage structures. Then visit the Presidio of San Diego, which dates back to 1769, and take a tour of the William Heath Davis House in the Gaslamp Quarter. After a day of exploration, rest up at one of the top resorts in or near San Diego.
