"Nice hotel, great view, great pool, kid friendly, "
We enjoyed our stay. However parking was very difficult. It was hard to find a place. We ended up having to do valet because we couldn't find a spot. I was quoted at check in thst parking was 28$/day regardless of self or valet parking. The sign said 35$. Upon check out they refused to honor the 28$ I was quoted saying that that price hasn't been right for 8months. He was almost accusing me of lying. I haven't stayed here in 10yrs. How would I have know the price of the parking 8mths ago. Any other hotel would not have hesitated to honor the quoted price rather than argue with me. Also the patio furniture we had was covered with bird poop.

"Relaxing and close to beaches!"
A great resort to relax by the pool and have drinks, yet so close to the best beaches in SD. Although the resort offers many wonderful amenities and activities, it is definitely geared more towards families than to singles or couples - no place to really mix and mingle after 10 pm.

"Gaslamp area"
Booked this on the fly during a weekend trip to San Diego. Filtered from 4 star hotels in the area. I found the Westin to be average. Not spectacular, not particularly problematic. I was a bit stunned to find that the one night valet fee for parking was in the neighborhood of $40. Close to the gaslamp goings on. On the way out of the hotel the following morning, overheard a couple of young gents complaining about bugs in their room.

Best and Worst Times to Visit San Diego

Some say it’s always 70 F and sunny in San Diego. While this coastal city does boast very comfortable temperatures year round, the area cools down a bit during the winter, especially at night. The winter months also see more rain than the rest of the year, but it usually doesn’t sprinkle for more than a day or two at a time.

At the beach, the temperatures are slightly cooler than inland, even during the summer months. Also down at the beach, during late spring the marine layer sometimes causes fog to roll in, which has led the locals to nickname the months May Gray and June Gloom. Although the fog usually burns off by the afternoon, avoid this time of year if you’re looking to soak up the California sunshine all day long.

The summertime is bright and sunny with temperatures hovering around the 70s and 80s F. However, because the kids are out of school and the weather is perfect for a day at the beach, crowds tend to take over this SoCal spot, particularly from June through August. Consider visiting during September or early October when the tourists have left but the beach weather is still lingering.

    Things to Do

Take advantage of the pleasant weather and spend some time outdoors. Head to La Jolla Cove, and watch the seals and sea lions basking on the rocks, or mosey through the gardens and museums of Balboa Park. While you’re in town, take surf lessons at Pacific Beach, or spend the afternoon picnicking at Mission Bay. If you’re in the mood for some hiking, hit the coastal trails at Torrey Pines or climb Cowles Mountain for sweeping views of the city.

After soaking up all that sunshine, take some time to get know San Diego’s history and culture. Begin your adventures in the Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. Considered the birthplace of San Diego, this site is home to the city’s first courthouse and public school house, along with adobe houses and other artifacts and vintage structures. Then visit the Presidio of San Diego, which dates back to 1769, and take a tour of the William Heath Davis House in the Gaslamp Quarter. After a day of exploration, rest up at one of the top resorts in or near San Diego.

This type of lodging bundles your meals and activities into the price of the room.
