There is no AC in the room, so on warm days your door is open to the ocean breezes. Rooms are smallish, but you are really just sleeping in there. Area eateries are pricey, so be sure to bring extra bank.

Pros: Location, View, Staff.
Location: Beach, restaurants, people watching.
Nothing fancy, very dated, but we weren't looking for anything other then a clean room on the beach. Love this place and we'll be back!

On the Beach!

Pros: Location
Cons: rooms get hot at night
Location: Right on the boardwalk
got exactly what I expected! I did forget that many beach hotels are not air conditioned.

Beach Front

I used to live in San Diego Pacific Beach area, so when I came back to visit I wanted to be close to everything. The hotel isn't a resort by any means but if your looking for a clean, spacious beach front with ocean view, than this is it! Very please with my stay and will definitely be returning in the future!

Hotel near beach

Booked the Surfer Hotel & needed to cancel prior to our stay. Management refused to allow us to cancel, so we ended up staying at the hotel since we already paid a ridiculously high price for it. We arrived to a very unfriendly office staff & filthy building. The online pictures of this hotel are deceiving. The room was dirty, no AC, filthy bathroom, and the bed was uncomfortable. I'm extremely disappointed with this hotel & would never recommend the Surfer Hotel to anyone.

I am sorry you were disappointed with your stay. The reservation was a non-refundable, non-cancelable reservation, which was explained to you. I am sorry that it did not meet your expectations.

Nice hotel but use your "do not disturb" sign

Had a nice stay until the cleaning people woke me up with loud and frantic knocking on the door early in the morning on my last day. I ignored it at first so she tried to swipe herself in but i had put the bolt on the door. Given she wasn't able to get in, I assumed she'd realise i was sleeping and would come back later. Instead, she came back and did the same thing again and again. I eventually went to the door to tell her I'd be checking out in a few hours (midday checkout, it was 9am) so she could clean it then. She walked away, unimpressed. As if i had inconvenienced her. I realise now that i should have put the do not disturb sign up but assumed it wasn't necessary as the cleaners should be able to see check in/out dates. Not a particularly restful end to my holiday!

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, as it will be used for training and coaching of all of our staff. I am very sorry that it left a poor impression on an otherwise pleasant holiday. The Housekeeping Team does know of check-out dates and many of our guests leave on early flights without notifying the Front Desk. The housekeeper in her urgency to ensure rooms were ready for the afternoon arrivals breached protocol in disturbing you more than once. I apologize again.

Love the close access to the beach

Plenty of places to choose to eat within walking distance. Hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. Great view of the ocean.
