Week-end in San DiegoPosted Oct 5, 2015
Pros: The Staff
Location: Right in down town and within walking distance to restaurants and clubs
The staff is absolutely fantastic. The hotel is decorated in 1800's decor but has been redone and is very quaint.

A Grand Old LadyPosted Sep 30, 2015
Pros: Staff, room, bed, lack of noise, restaurant with excellent food, bar and happy hour(s) bar snacks.
Cons: Earlier housekeeping, ours way around 4pm on the Monday.
Location: Great location close to the main street, waterfront, convention centre and waterfront.
On arrival the staff were attentive and helpful; from Charles the doorman to the front desk receptionist and especially Tom the barman. The suite was exactly as described by Expedia, very large with a 4 poster king bed, large sitting area and lots of natural light. There was no street noise but then again we were there on a Sunday and Monday nights. The hotel, original buildings (of which there are two joined), was built in 1865 but due to modern refurbishment kept in the era of grand hotels it offers travellers a peaceful and elegant sanctuary when travelling.

Loved it and will definitely stay there again! Beautiful hotel with lots of history! Antiques everywhere, even in the hotel rooms. The staff was also very nice & accommodating.

Location: Easy access to Gaslamp Quarter and restaurants
We stayed in a room with one of the street balconies, and our patio door was broken, so the street noise was very loud. Walls are very thin too so you can hear everything from the other rooms, which doesn't help since the rooms are tiny anyways. I was disappointed with the experience- dingy, dirty room & bathroom, the bed was a cheap wicker frame that was falling apart, our comforter was stained and torn. It could greatly use an update and repairs. The lobby & bar area are lovely, and our valet was helpful, but that was about it.

Very bad wifiPosted Sep 22, 2015
Clean and comfortable. Location is good. But the room was stinky a little. And wifi have never connected. It was worst during my stay... I visited to see my friend so I needed to contact my friend... But we couldn't do well. For visitors especially foreigners it is really important of good wifi condition. I like this hotel but I would not book next time sorry...

Loved the Horton Grand and its close proximity to everything in downtown San Diego, especially the Gaslamp Quarter. The staff was inviting, the restaurant had lovely food, the rooms were nice, clean and quiet. Lovely time in San Diego!

Central to everythingPosted Sep 18, 2015
Pros: Very clean, neat and central
Cons: Tables on balconies
Location: Plenty of all types of restaurants and nightlife, close to waterfront and short walk to reception Centre.
Lovely old style hotel with modern amenities, would recommend this over a chain as it has character. One item I though would be handy was to have small tables to accompany the chairs on the balconies as we had nowhere to place our wine glasses.

Nice Hotel walking distance to Convention CenterPosted Sep 18, 2015
Pros: the location, cleanness, staff, restaurant
Cons: bed cover can of old fashion
It was my second stay and will visit again! The breakfast buffet is not available anymore as they upgraded the restaurant. The menu is great and they offer 10% discount coupons at the check in for the restaurant! The staff is really nice and helpful! less than 10 minutes walk to the convention center and in the heart of Gaslamp quarter
