Old, Dingy and Loud!

Posted Jan 27, 2016
Pros: location
Cons: Fix the radiators and replace damaged carpet. add higher quality windows to block sound, consider installing central air.
Location: Location is great, if they would invest in some site upgrades they could increase their quality and rates significantly. There is great potential here
We arrived super late at night exhausted from traveling, got into the room and the carpet was all flooded around the radiator and under the window. Decided we were too exhausted to deal with it at that time and went to sleep. In the morning we tried to cancel the remaining 3 nights of our stay Went in circles with Management and Expedia to get it canceled. Expedia needed the hotels approval to refund, the hotel kept telling us they would approve it, then every time Expedia called they rejected it. At one point they sent a repair guy in with some bath towels to soak up the flooded carpet. The towels ended up soaked with the gross brown water. After about an hour and a half and 4 calls, the hotel approved the refund. This hotel is not worth the crazy cheap price. Our room faced the street and some sort of recycling center, where trash trucks were arriving to dump every 5-10 minutes all throughout the night. You cant control the radiator and the room was so hot and humid we had to either sleep in that environment or open the window and not sleep due to the noise. Overall it was a horrible night, but I appreciate the hotel acknowledging we weren't going to be comfortable and happy for the remainder of our stay and agreeing to cancel and refund us the remaining nights.

Good location and just enough character

Posted Jan 19, 2016
Pros: Good location with easy walk to Union Square, China Town and public transportation stops.
Location: Ride a bike across the Golden Gate Bridge!
Had a historic vibe (high ceilings, furnishings, etc.) but updated and meticulously clean. Insulated windows kept street noise to a minimum or opened to let in a little cool air when steam radiator made room warmer than necessary. (Being there in January, we didn't have to test the efficacy of the ceiling fan.) Room was small, but plenty big enough to serve as nighttime base for exploring the city. Staff was courteous, professional and helpful, checking on an available room and letting us check in at 10 a.m., allowing us to freshen up after overnight Amtrak ride before tackling the city. Elevator was slow but somehow that added to the charm -- heck, isn't vacation time to slow the pace down anyway? Would much rather stay here than a more expensive, high-end hotel that could be in any city.

Great hotel and value!

If you are looking for a clean, safe and convenient alternative to pricey hotels this is the place. You do give up newer furniture, plush beading, and room service. However the staff is awesome, and the room was super clean. Great place to crash and shower and then spend your day enjoying the city.

Posted Jan 1, 2016

Zentraler geht es nicht mehr

Posted Jan 1, 2016
Pros: Sauberkeit in meinen Zimmer war sehr gut
Cons: Im Doppelzimmer könnte noch ein Zweiter Stuhl oder Sessel
Location: Das Hotel liegt Zentral

Concert getaway

Posted Dec 31, 2015
Pros: Old time feel!
Cons: Air conditioning
Location: Lori's 24 hour dinner - great place for a late night snack.
Took a short trip with my 16 year old daughter down from Portland to catch a concert at the Regency ballroom. Chose the Baldwin because it was within walking distance of the concert venue. Very cool older hotel that has been updated. Located in Union Square so there is lots to do. Very close to shopping, food and all sorts of things to keep you busy with in a short to long walk. Overall we were very happy with our stay.

Good location

A three night stay in San Francisco saw us in Baldwin Hotel. Good location to get everywhere. Slow lift but other than that minor annoyance, all was well.

Posted Dec 21, 2015

Hotel standart, proche de Union Square

Posted Nov 29, 2015
