"Unexpected amenities in a less touristy area."
Liked the free bottled water and Directv. Could have done without the sand flys arriving via the bathroom sink. It was quiet, comfy and met expectations.

My stay at the hotel was very overwhelming. From the first day the I check in the staff were welcoming and polite. The room was very clean minus the windows. I had a beautiful ocean view looking towards San Francisco.

Great location and great hotel. The staff was very friendly. Starbucks is located in the hotel which is very convenient to grab a coffee and breakfast sandwich in the morning. Car rental locations are one block away from hotel which is a benefit if interested in renting a car to explore the other side of Golden Gate Bridge and/or wine country. Also, cabs are very easy to get in front of the hotel.

"Great Stay for the Price"
The hotel is beautifully decorated in a very modern decor. The room was clean- only thing was the room did not have air conditioning so it was a bit uncomfortable at night but aside from that -stay was wonderful.

Hotel Whitcomb

1231 Market St, San Francisco 94103 - Map
"The hotel that couldn't be silenced"
The Whitcomb was a pleasant experience; with good staff, nice rooms, and a generally good atmosphere. This was undone, however, as every morning between the hours of 3 and 7 the entire building's fire alarm system would be activated. Now the world-ending sound that ensued from such an activation may put you at ease as it would be able to wake coma patients from their slumber to evacuate, but as this was three nights of false alarms we did not take solace in its effectiveness. To be honest this was not the Whitcomb's fault but the actions of some renegade who eventually got caught, or so we were told after the second night...

The Lodge at Tiburon

"It was fine, but not for $300+"
We dropped the kids in the city at my sister's and had a night away in Tiburon. Yay! If the room cost $230 or less, I would say it was awesome. But we paid over $300. Perhaps it was just really full. Even still - that's a lot of loot for a room that doesn't feel very much different than a well maintained best western holiday inn. The best thing about this hotel was the restaurant. We loved the breakfast. So that's a big plus. The rest of the experience was fine. As in OK. Nothing too wonderful, nothing too bad. They did give us a free bottle of wine and some meat & cheese (my wife is a vegetarian though) - which were waiting for us when we opened the door. That was a nice touch.
