Quiet location at the top of Nob Hill

Posted Jul 8, 2017
Opulent and all the charm one should expect from a 110-year-old hotel, and the original Fairmont.

Nob Hill Luxury

Posted Jul 7, 2017
Pros: The amazing Tonga Room bar and restaurant! Where else can you sip delicious tropical cocktails while watching an INDOOR rain storm?
Cons: I had a regular room, but I would be interested in paying extra for a room with a soaking tub for two with bath butler type amenities on room service.
Location: Nob Hill is the nicest part of San Francisco. Across the street are the restaurants of Mark Hopkins, and the Grace Cathedral's walking labyrinth.
The Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco is a 5 star hotel! The rooms were well furnished with clean, comfortable and luxurious furnishings. Their bathrooms are marble, with high quality amenities of Le Labo’s Rose 31 which smell like a spa. I was delighted to see a bamboo plant adorning the bathroom too - the Fairmont pays attention to the details of your stay, and typically knocks it out of the park. There were some high quality and tempting food and beverage items in the in-room mini bar, and for night owls, they have 24 hour room service! They also have dog friendly rooms, AND a whole page of fancy dog food meals in their room service menu. What I love most about the Fairmont, is their historic tiki bar The Tonga Room! This is an absolute must see. Indoor rain shower over a lovely pool, elegant and exotic tiki decor, the remains of a historic clipper ship, delicious tropical cocktails and decent food. They also have a lovely elegant bar and restaurant on the main floor. The piano player there is AMAZING! And, if you bring a dog, or just want to take in panoramic views of the city, they have a "hidden" rooftop garden with a lovely water fountain and benches. The Fairmont SF is truly an amazing experience.

Absolutely Gorgeous!!!! Loved Our Stay!

Posted Jul 7, 2017
Pros: The beauty
Cons: The mattress is too soft
Location: We enjoyed the Chart House one night for dinner and we were told we had the best seat in the house and I would agree. The views were amazing!!!
I highly recommend staying at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco. Check in was a breeze only took like 2min. No issues with booking with outside source. We stayed on the 7th floor with a view and our view was amazing. We had the view of the city plus the bay and the hotel garden where we saw a couple of wedding over the weekend. Our room was beautiful. The only con is the mattress is a little soft, but other than that we were completely happy and will definitely stay there again. Be warned there is no parking you must use the valet which I believe was $70.00 a day so count that in. One day we were beat after touring all day and we used postmates and had Carl Jr deliver our food to the lobby. lol Highly recommend the love bus tour. So much fun. San Francisco is beautiful! Can't wait to go back! Thank you Fairmont for making our stay a beautiful one! Check out some of my pictures at Chin Chin Today on Instagram.

Worst Check-In Ever

Posted Jul 6, 2017
Pros: Roof garden. The hotel reservation staff was nice when I was booking & flexible about my son's dog. But the dishes they left out for her were filthy.
Cons: Staff ought to be retrained on the meaning of hospitality. Does someone have to pass out in the lobby for the hotel to see it has a problem?
After a long X-country flight, we arrived in SF in the middle of the night and had the entire lobby of the Fairmont to ourselves as we sought to check in, eager to collapse for a few hours in the room we had booked for 2 nights via Expedia. The one employee at the counter assigned us to a room that had only 1 king bed. We immediately protested & explained that we had disclosed from the get-go, when devising our search on Expedia and in a followup call to the hotel's reservation desk, that we were 2 adults + a 17-year-old boy, and that no one could expect a single king to serve 3 full-sized people. The employer (=also the mngr on duty) kept saying "that is what you booked" as if we should've known that a 4-star hotel could see fit to accepting a booking through Expedia and then jam us into a room w/ 1 bed, no couch & no room for a cot. The staffer insisted she could not do any better unless we ponied up $50/nt to be "upgraded" to a room with space for a cot. This was a stick-up. It was 3 or 4 AM. We were woozy from travel. We badly needed to rest before the day's appointments, and we were forced to stand there for 45 min as the charade went on. At no time, did she offer us a chair or glass of water. Finally, we called Expedia, which was its usual helpful self. Even then, she was unbudging. Only when Expedia confirmed that there were vacancies at fine hotels nearby did she suddenly claim that she had processed the upgrade w/o additional fees while I was "ranting and raving."

Better and cheaper places in SF

Posted Jul 3, 2017
The building looks nice and majestic but once indide, the facade crumbles. In order to save money, ftont desk are all very young and inexperienced. Even the manager are young and not empowered. So don't expect anything from them beside a fake and worthless smile. Houekeeping are the worst ever. Loud, dirty, rude and they don't spesk english. I undeserved whem motel 6 hire workers like that, but when you charge customers hundreds of dollars per night, you better hire quality people. The room are in bad need for renovation. You can hear every word of your neighbors. So when you neighbors has dogs, don't expect to sleep Overall, this place used to be a gemstone not it s just generic hotel. So save your money snd stay at hilton or sheraton. They are all the same
