Historic Hotel Close to Local Attractions

Posted Jun 7, 2017
Pros: The staff!
Cons: Quality of the rooms from the comfort of the beds to the updating of the bathrooms.
Location: Perfect location for tourist. It's a little far from Fishermans Wharf however you can easily take a cab or uber there.
Although this hotel is historic it does not display this upon entering. One thing that I think is the most important to make mention of is the wonderful hotel staff and the kind personalities. Everyone is helpful however if you are wanting a nice hotel with a more up to date appearance this is NOT the one for you. The amenities were dated, and the hotel itself showed signs of wear and tear. There are possibly other rooms that are more updated however mine was not one of them. Again, I can't express enough how helpful the staff was. Very kind to tourist and extremely willing to help plan your day for sightseeing. So if you are wanting to experience this hotel for the history and customer service aspect I would recommend, however there are better hotels w/ better prices and quality.

My stay at the Fairmont

Posted Jun 7, 2017
I stayed during Memorial Day weekend. I arrived early and requested an early check in, I was told there were no rooms available unless I paid to upgrade. I did pay $65 a night to upgrade to a city view room. The room was very nice and had an amazing view. I was disappointed to not have a bath robe in the room, and the shower would go from very hot to very cold real quick. I did notice that there was loud music playing from somewhere in the hotel every single night, I was able to hear it very clear in my room on the 20th floor. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, they texted throughout the stay and made sure everything was going fine. Overall I was a little upset about not having my room available when I arrived, as well as the loud music keeping me up every night. I don't think I would stay at this hotel again.

The top 1%

Posted Jun 6, 2017
Pros: EVERYTHING on the interior is really well done.
Cons: The two hundred buck rooms have NO view. They're hidden behind the cornice on the top floor. Good tradeoff over spending 3X on the other rooms.
Location: Top of Nob hill. Walking anywhere is very steep for 3-4 blocks. California Line Cable Car is right outside on the south side though.
In the top 1% of places I've stayed in. A really nice experience. It's really stupid of them to charge so much for WiFi though. This is the Bay Area. It's free just about everywhere. Dumb holdover from 10 years ago.

Excellent position, especially for tams.

Posted Jun 6, 2017
Pros: Apart from the high level and quality of rooms and services provided, the attentive and conciliatory Doormen.
Cons: Refer to car parking costs mentioned above.
Location: The trams giving easy access to the Fishermans Wharf & City. If your a Steve McQueen film buff location for scenes from Bullit.
Visited San Francisco over the years on several occasions. However note car parking costs have escalated. At the Hotel 62 US Dollars per day. Prohibitive. Do not visit with a car.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Fairmont. My only complain would be the walls. You can listen to your neighbors middle of the night conversation and the high priced parking. Overall great experience. Location was in a perfect area in SF.

Lovely, Elegant & Traditional

Posted Jun 2, 2017
Cons: Shower head is much, much weaker than the tub faucet.
Great location, walkable to Grace Cathedral and the Labyrinth there. Just 40 feet from the Mark Hopkins and "The Top of the Mark", and an easy stroll to neighborhood cafes and restaurants. Staff are thoughtful about every aspect of your stay. Would return!

Beautiful grand old hotel close to everything!

Posted May 27, 2017
Pros: Everything!
Cons: Nothing
Location: Chinatown, SFMOMA, market street, Union Square, it's all close.
This place is a once in a lifetime experience everyone should have! I had the most extraordinary view from room 346 (1 queen). 348 next door which had a king bed looked really great too. The staff were friendly and helpful. Everything was perfect, from the large, open and clean room, all the way to the cocktails and piano at the main restaurant. This place is soaked with history. Several movies have been made here, and important treaties signed too. I really enjoyed just absorbing the tradition and history that's taken place here. Tip - park at the Crocker Garage across the street and leave the car behind. If you book online it's supercheap multi day city parking. The cable car stopped right outside the hotel, so getting around was easy. This place is minutes walk from Union square, MOMA, Chinatown, By cable car, Lombard st, Fisherman's wharf and the marina are close. I meandered through lots of interesting neighborhoods just by randomly picking the least hilly or most interesting looking streets on the way back from the marina on foot. I definitely hope to stay here again!
