We loved our stay here! My sister I grew up in the Mission but since our family has moved away we had the unusual task of finding a place to stay in our hometown. The Golden Gate Hotel is clean, comfortable centrally located. Not to mention really charming! I would stay here again in a heartbeat will recommend it to anyone else I know going to San Francisco.
Breakfast consisted of one croissant per person and nothing else. That's it. The coffee pots were empty, dirty dishes from earlier guests were just left there so we had to push them aside to eat our one roll. We finally found someone to bring more coffee, but there was no juice (there were dirty juice glasses left on the table from before so they must have had some at one point). "Breakfast" was from 8:30-10:00am and we were down there at 9:15. Lame.

Old hotel with all the quirks of an old building. Walls are thin, heating ok and signs of wear. Also, be careful when reserving a room, not all have in suite bathrooms. John at the front desk and all the staff are great and it is a great value too.
