Nice hotel close to the airport and horrible staff

Posted Aug 24, 2015
Pros: The room is clean
Cons: Better trained staff and better management
Location: SFO Airport is 10 min away
I called the hotel a few days before my stay to request an accessible room for my father that can't walk and was told that although they did not have anything available on the first floor the request was added to my reservation and we would stay on the second floor. When we came to the hotel to check-in I was told by their staff that they did not have any handicapped accessible room and we had to deal with it.

Hotel in San Mateo, günstig zum Flughafen

Posted Aug 12, 2015
Pros: Vom Standard ein normales Holiday Inn, noch nicht so schick renoviert wie viele andere Holiday Inns.
Cons: Die Mitarbeiter an der Rezeption sind nicht besonders freundlich.
Location: San Mateo, Burlingame, Foster City, Flughafen San Francisco

Pricey for what it is

Posted Aug 8, 2015
Pros: The staff were friendly and genuinely tried to be helpful.
Cons: The Expedia itinerary provides NO address - and NO phone numbers for the facility booked. This could have saved time in trying to find the facility.
Location: Not much within a 5 mi. radius of the facility except SFO airport. Must have a car, a whole lot of time to spend in traffic, and a GPS!
My major complaint is the price. One night's stay is nearly triple the going rates of similar Holiday Inns outside this area. No shuttle to anywhere but SFO, you MUST have a car as it's close to nothing but the freeway, no concierge (though there's one friendly, but overworked desk clerk), and no complimentary breakfast. There's a coffee shop on premises but expect to pay extra for your Denny's-style meals. My travel budget is now shot for the entire year - all for a two-night stay aside the 101 freeway in San Mateo.

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you for taking the time to express your thoughts and concerns. Please allow us to apologize for the experience you had during your stay. Spacious rooms, free upgrade, few kinks

Posted Aug 5, 2015
We were only staying here one night because we just needed a hotel near the airport because we had a very early flight. We checked in around 9pm and they gave us a free upgrade to a bigger suite. We were surprised and disappointed that the hottub and sauna was already closed though. It was the reason we decided to pay the extra money to book this hotel. Closed by 9pm seems incredibly early especially since it was in the fitness room that was 24 hours.

Better than expected for the price.

Excellent spacious and clean room with amenities. Only negative was the lack of free breakfast. They had a bistro but their prices were quite high.

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you for your fantastic review on our clean and spacious rooms. As we are not an express hotel, breakfast is not offered as a complimentary amenity. However, breakfast is offered in the Bistro daily. On behalf of our entire staff, we hope to have the pleasure in welcoming you back to the Holiday Inn & Suites in San Mateo during your next stay in our area. Sincerely, Kara N. Front Office Manager

Great value when the price is right!

Posted Jul 13, 2015
Pros: Nice location and clean, breakfast provided is a bonus.
Cons: Softer bed and pillows.
We got a good room for 2 nights for at $135 per night a week before arrival. However, the price shot up to $220. Room is clean and spacious but the bed and pillows are less comfortable.

Not as impressed as some of the other reviewers

Posted Jul 8, 2015
Pros: Convenient to SFO
Cons: SFO commands premium prices, even for Holiday Inns, but a little attention to detail costs little and goes along way to justify the price.
Location: Convenient - exit off of 101 north essentially puts you in the parking lot.
Room was generally ok. We were just there to be near SFO to catch a plane the next morning. Found a long black hair in one of the beds, which we are guessing was the maid's since the sheets otherwise looked clean. Carpet in the room was pretty badly stained (looked like tomato sauce or dried ketchup) along with other unidentifiable stains. No bed skirts on the beds, just bare mattress box springs. Door was wear with black scuffs and dings. I know this is San Mateo, but for >$200 I expected a little more.

Nice, clean hotel for short stay.

Posted Jul 1, 2015
Pros: Clean, large room, friendly staff.
Cons: Air conditioner was a wall unit and loud. Noise from upstairs was a little intrusive.
My husband and I were in the bay area to look at housing areas for a potential move for a job. The hotel was clean, fairly quiet and close to the areas we were checking out.
