Great location, wonderful hotel. I'll stay again

Posted Apr 25, 2016
The Rex is a charming hotel in a great location of SF. It's older and has tons of character. The staff was awesome and the complimentary wine, coffee, and internet were a nice added touch. It's one of the few SF hotels that doesn't gouge you with extra hidden fees (resort fee? refrigerator and microwave fee? Really???). We loved our stay at the Rex and will stay there next time we come to SF.

Great location, great room

Posted Apr 20, 2016
Pros: Free welcome drink at the nice bar. The room was nicely decorated.
Cons: No idea.
Location: Great location, close to everything.
Was only at Rex 1 night, quick stopover to see my son. The bell hop and front desk staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Room was adequate size, bigger than I expected actually. Very comfortable bed, nice little desk, table with wine/water (honor bar). Nice bathroom with good supplies. Location is excellent. Would stay here again in a heart beat.

Fine property, room for the price

Posted Apr 15, 2016
I was in the hotel for about 10 hours in total of which I was awake only 3, but for those 3 hours, it was fine. An in-room coffee maker would have been nice. Shower water pressure was weak, but I was on the seventh floor. Good location near Union Square and a downhill walk to financial district. The AC was strong but very loud.

Inexpensive hotel in a great location

Posted Apr 13, 2016
Pros: Friendly staff, great bartenders, central location, price.
Location: Few blocks from Chinatown, few blocks to public transportation, 30 minute walk to wharf and piers.
We originally booked this hotel because of the price and the reviews and we were glad we did. Great location, centrally located to all the great neighborhoods and tourist attractions. We were able to walk everywhere or walk a few blocks to public transportation. Great bar downstairs with good atmosphere for a quick bite to eat or drink. Make sure to take advantage of the complimentary glass of wine everyday offered to hotel guests.

Nice place.

Pros: Staff was professional and helpful.
This is one of the many hotels in San Francisco that are very old. The rooms are comfortable, but don't expect the modern design that you wold find in newer hotels like the Hilton. Our room had a separate heater and air conditioner; just one of the modifications that they have to make to a building that is older than I am! Nonetheless, our stay was comfortable and I would return as long as the price was right.

More than I expected!

Pros: You can't beat the location for the price!!
Location: Very close to Union Square, cable cars, Westfield Mall/movie theater, BART station, light rail, bus stops, etc... This is the center of the universe.
So I made a mistake and booked the wrong day! I showed up a day early and was due to fly out the next morning. The woman at the front desk understood completely and changed my reservation on the spot with no additional fee. It took no time at all! My room was pleasant and charming! The location is excellent and within a ten minute walk of Union Square. I ordered my coffee on my Starbucks app and had it waiting on my way to the BART station and was in and out in a matter on minutes. Lots of places to eat nearby and I was sorry that I didn't take advantage of the free glass of wine at the bar. The bar was packed!! But it was also low noise and looked really pleasant in there! I got a great night's sleep and the room was quiet and the A/C worked really well (I like my room to be cold at night) and the elevator was always available. The other guests were all very pleasant and cordial as well. It seems as if this place attracts interesting people. I would definitely stay here again!

Great hotel close to Union Square!

Posted Mar 16, 2016
Pros: Very clean, vintage atmosphere
Location: 2 minutes away from Union Square, close to excellent restaurants.
We have stayed here for 2 nights on a short trip to San Francisco and loved it. The room was spotless albeit a little small, with a comfortable queen size bed. Cable TV, A/C, mini bar, refrigerator. The hotel is located 2 minutes from Union Square, has breakfast available on the premises. Great and helpful staff.
