Centrally located

Posted Mar 24, 2017
Pros: The character of the hotel and the beds.
Cons: Add individual coffee machines to the rooms.
Location: Able to get to all attractions thanks to the public transportation right outside the front door.
Beautiful historical building, beds very comfortable and clean. Bathroom very small and no coffee offered in the room nor in the lobby?? Very close to all transportation so generally very happy with the hotel.

Top of my list of hotels to avoid in SF

Posted Mar 20, 2017
Pros: The lobby is very nice, as are the hallways, etc. Everything has a clean, sophisticated vintage charm. Staff was friendly.
Cons: The room we stayed in needs to just be demolished and rebuilt from scratch using at least some 20th century construction technology.
Location: Nestled in the heart of downtown amidst the homeless, you'll not want to linger nearby.
The room was very small and dark. Little natural light, and very dim lightbulbs in all the fixtures, and a severe lack of electrical outlets. No amenities at all, no coffee maker, fridge or anything like that. Bathroom lighting was very poor, and it would have been impossible to shave or apply makeup, had I been inclined to try. One of the most depressing rooms I've ever spent the night in. My family was not at all happy with the situation, and we cut our stay extremely short and moved to a nicer hotel.

Too difficult to park otherwise nice hotel.

Husband was in the hospital. Wanted to be closer to him but the traffic and parking situation was rather difficult with all the trolleys and buses and such. Hotel was a beauty tho.

Pros: We had two rooms and stayed one night. It was bad experience.
Cons: The decoration of the hotel need to change. It likes a hundred yeas old.
The location is not good, there are homeless outside of the hotel.

Centrally Located

Pros: Location, historical and great staff!
Cons: Please change the beds, also you should send an email out notifying customers of where the parking is.
Location: Thumbs up
This hotel is historical with lovely woodwork and chandeliers. The rooms were nice, nothing special, but the beds were EXTREMELY uncomfortable; box spring beds without pillow tops to help at all; I woke up in pain the next day fro the beds (I'm 26 BTW). The hallways had that 'old smell' to them but the rooms didn't Overall, if you're looking for nice hotel that's centrally located but not a 5 star, then this is it. *** Quick tip - If you're driving, the valet is around the back of the hotel. Once you pass the hotel to your right, go to the corner of Market St. and turn right, you will see signs for parking almost immediately to the right; there will be signs for public parking, make a right there but pass it and it will look like a dark alley with LED lights - drive back there and the valet should greet you.
