NIce Location

Posted Dec 8, 2016
I love the location because BART is literally just by the hotel door. My June 2016 was great but this time NOT QUITE. The bathroom was not that clean: hair left on the tub, dust clearly seen on the ledge of the wall. I will come back but I hope housekeeping maintains cleanliness with quality to boost. This is not a cheap hotel to begin with so guests should get their money's worth.

Lovely old hotel

Posted Dec 5, 2016
Pros: Location, old SF charm.
Cons: Smell in the hallway. It wasn't terrible, but definitely noticeable.
Location: Not a great neighborhood, but within walking distance of so much to do.
I made last minute reservations so I wouldn't have to drive home after a show at the Golden Gate Theater and was very happy to not have to make the 1 1/2 hour drive home after 11 pm.. The Hotel Whitcomb is charming with a gorgeous lobby. There was a funky "old building" smell in the hallway, but our room was fine. The bed was comfy and the location was perfect.

Rusty Bath Fixtures

Posted Nov 29, 2016
Pros: Lovely room and lobby. Great location. Starbucks in lobby. Dining room
Cons: Rusty fixtures in bath
Location: Downtown near Civic Center, Davies Symphony Hall, Opera House, Asian Art Museum
The shower rod holders were rusted as was a wall mounting fixture in the bath. There was nothing attached to the rusted wall mounting device sitting empty so anyone slipping could be cut on it.

WORST HOTEL EVER!!!!!!

Posted Nov 28, 2016
First of all the Staff is extremely rude and disrespectful!!! When asking simple question they would answer with attitude! Half of our floor did not have power when we arrived!! It took like half an hour for hot water to come out when showering! The sheets were dirty and the smell in the room was unacceptable! Our restroom door would not close! I can not believe I paid $150 bucks plus 43 dollars for parking!! I would NOT recommend this place to anyone! The pictures on the website are a completely different then they look once you are there!!!!

Beautiful old hotel well kept, perfect location right around the. Order from the Civic Center and a Bart station literally across the street. Staff is always friendly and more than accommodating to our stay. Affordable and classy.

Ok location

Posted Nov 28, 2016
Spent the thanksgiving weekend here and the hotel was ok, the interior was elegant in a classic way. Once you get past the lobby and Into the rooms it has a certain smell. It didn't smell bad per se, but did have an old smell to it. The rooms felt very dark as did the floor I was staying on, 6. Comfortable but small, the staff was great.

Attractive interior. Close to Davies Symphony Hall. Nice restaurants nearby. 24-hour parking valet. Public transport runs right there along Market Street.

Old hotel needs rehab

Posted Nov 25, 2016
Pros: Old historic hotel
Cons: Update the rooms and bathrooms. The toilet was from the 1950's?
Location: Not sure as we only spent one night.
The hotel is very old and requires to be cleaned up a bit. The shower had mold on the tiles? We spent one night and checked into a Marriott. A bit disappointing to be honest.

Small Room but Conveniently Located

Posted Nov 24, 2016
Pros: Proximity to the Orpheum Theater Historical past and preserved 1920's vibe Helpful staff Quieter neighborhood Nice restaurant Starbucks downstairs
Cons: Perhaps the layout of the hotel room--we found that the large desk and chair made it hard to get around the bed.
Location: The reason we took this trip was to see The Lion King at the Orpheum Theater. Check out The City's list of Broadway shows--they do not disappoint!
My husband and I chose this hotel based on its proximity to The Orpheum Theater (where we were seeing a show one night). We got a good deal on our room and were happy to see we could park there (for a price) for the two days we were wandering The City on foot. The room itself was smaller than we were anticipating but it had a large closet, comfortable bed, and hot shower--the only necessities for these travelers! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They answered our questions and helped us navigate city streets to get to the attractions we wanted to see. We ate at the hotel restaurant one evening and had a delicious dinner with great service. The best benefit to staying at the Whitcomb was its location: across the street from the theater, within walking distance to Union Square and Downtown, and a quick bus ride to the Piers. We prefer to take our traveling on foot and enjoyed having so many places to explore within a couple miles of our room.
