Hotel is under construction.

This hotel should not be open during construction, and Hotels.com should have notified me that it was under construction. The dust created by the renovation of the floors above us, made it impossible for me to be in the room without masking. I could not figure out why when I was in the room for any length of time, I would begin a persistent cough. I went out and bought some simple masks at the nearby Walgreens. I spoke to the front desk and they said, "Oh, there isn't any real construction going on here in the hotel." (I went up to the 5th floor in the elevator and saw the construction myself!) Hard to believe, but that is what they said. At breakfast, several of the other guests, said that they were having the same problem with coughing and couldn't figure out why, until they, too, had discovered the construction, I believe that I am owed a refund of some sort because of this. The workers also started very early in the morning (before 7 am) with hammering and heaven knows what else making it impossible to sleep.
I suspect that California just might have some laws on their books vis a vis notifying hotel guests when there is construction that might cause allergic reactions for some guests.
They have photos in several places in the hotel that show what the rooms will look like after they are renovated, and that the renovation will be finished in January 2017.

Thank you for your feedback and we apologize for your experience. The Inn at Union Square is currently renovating guest rooms to offer our guests an updated and elegant visit for years to come. We are also taking every precaution to insulate guests from any disruption. We do not have any guests residing on floors that are under construction, have asked that the work only take place during reasonable hours and are making every effort to minimize noise and contain debris during this temporary renovation. Your feedback is extremely valuable to us as we strive to do so.
Should you have any further feedback or if there is any other information that I may provide, please feel free to reach out to me at the hotel. From the entire Inn at Union Square team, we apologize and hope that you will join us again in the future to experience our updated rooms.
