Nice location, walking distance to many locations.

Posted Sep 3, 2015
Pros: Location and staff.
Location: Walking distance to downtown Union Square, AT$T ballpark, Chinatown, North Beach, and Fisherman's Wharf areas. Cable cars run very close to hotel.
The front desk and bell staff were excellent. We were able to walk from hotel to most areas but cable cars ae very close if preferred. Cab service was prompt when needed and managed well by the bellmen.

A Grand Hotel

The Mark Hopkins is clearly a grand hotel. The staff are pleasant, well trained professionals who attend to every detail. I look forward to my next visit.

Outdated, noisy!!

Posted Aug 26, 2015
Stayed in three hotels on my recent trip to this area. This hotel is old and outdated! The street noise was unbearable and noise from hallway was unacceptable! I would not stay here again!

Excellent place to stay

Posted Aug 24, 2015
Pros: Location and service
Cons: Allow guest to reserve upstairs. Lots of others arrive and hotel guests have to wait to get in the Top of the Mark
Location: Shopping and great restaurants
Nearby all the best restaurants and great place on Top of the Mark! Classy and reasonable.

Top of Nob HIll..

Posted Aug 24, 2015
Pros: The Breakfast on Sunday mornings is lovely. The room is not very pretty... Probably would stay at The Palace next time.
Cons: See above about the water, maybe a mint with turn down service at night.. Your hotel is the bare minimum unless you're in the special club you have..
Location: It's SF... lots to do and cable car is close by to go down the hill to shopping in Union Square or to the Wharf.
We've stayed at the Mark Hopkins before and I'd say the rooms are nothing special; adequate but not luxurious by any means. They could do better in the little things. For example, most 4 star and 5 star hotels give a free bottle of water, not charge 6 or 7 dollars for one... that's so low end... We've stayed very recently at the Grand Del Mar, the 4 Seasons Biltmore in Santa Barbara, and other places and none of them charge for water and in fact, make sure you have more than enough free bottles. So, this is a turn off to us...

Nice Hotel on Nob Hill

Posted Aug 18, 2015
We stayed at the Mark Hopkins, enjoyed it as its wants to be a very swanky hotel. But the dust around the door frames, no wifi and uncomfortable bed and pillows makes it from swanky to a wannabe swanky hotel. Perhaps it's time for them to update some of the facilities to warrant the cost of the rooms?

I got there a little early for check in. Room not ready .no problem had drink in lounge while I waited. Room still wasn't ready by 3.45. Only was staying for one night. That was only problem. Very nice otherwise.

Perfectly-located classic hotel

Posted Aug 17, 2015
Pros: Staff, rooms, bathrooms, location, Top of the Mark
Cons: the lobby feels a little shabby when compared to its neighbor, the Fairmont. Top of the Mark furniture and decor could use an ugprade
Location: So much! Perfect location at the top of Nob Hill
The Mark Hopkins is the gold standard when it comes to customer experience. This hotel does not disappoint. The staff is warm and gracious and the service level is set very high. And the location....can't be beat. Gorgeous old-world property with great amenities and address.
