Easy access to all touristic spots in SF

Posted Feb 1, 2016
I stayed at Kensington Park Hotel for 4 days and I really enjoyed my stay. Even if I heard lots of news about downtown area and people had told me downtown SF is not safe, I can honestly say, I absolutely felt safe in this area. Kensignton hotel is located in a very safe area right across the union square, there are tons of shopping centers, restaurants, cafe, etc around then hotel. This is very walkable city and if you used to walk alot, you can simply walk to every where. However, there is a grand public transportation. Personally I enjoyed walking in SF. From my hotel I walked to the City hall, Farmers market, convention center, public library and it was all less than 15 minute walk for me as I walk fast. I also walked to Ferry building and financial district which was about 30 minuted walk. I also walked to China Town, Nob hill, and many other areas. 5 minute walk from hotel, you will reach to the Cable Car station which gives you ride to Fisherman Wharf. With 1 Bus you can go to Pier 39 as well as Alcatraz Landing. In order to go to the airport, it only takes you 7 minute walk to get to the BART metro station and you don't even need a cab to go to the airport. The hotel itself was perfect for me. My room was on 9th floor, I had a nice view, very comfortable king bed, clean and quiet room. Every morning from 7am to 10 am they served complimentary tea & coffee on the 9th and 11th floor. Then between 4pm to 6pm they served complementary tea and sherry in the lobby. So dur

Cons: It's an old hotel with old furnishings and paint
The concierge, Robert, is a gem. He knows the town and the good restaurants. He directed us to some good places we had not known before.

Great Location

Just a short walk to Union Square and a hop onto the cable cars to the wharf. The San Francisco Playhouse is within the hotel and was able to take in a great show (Stage Kiss) while there. The hotel is also directly connected to the Farallon Restaurant with great seafood and a door down is Morton's Steakhouse. A block away is a popular gastro pub (Hogwash). All in all a newly renovated hotel with unusual amenities (the citrus water, sherry, and hot tea was a nice touch).

Lots of Potential

Posted Dec 30, 2015
Pros: The location is terrific and the rooms are very comfortable, super clean, and housekeeping was quiet and not intrusive. The staff was very friendly.
Cons: The facility needs to be in better working condition.
Location: Union Square and everything that goes along with it. The St. Francis is right around the corner, and shopping abounds.
This hotel is in a great location, just off Union Square, within walking distance to shopping, Chinatown, and even Pier 39 if you are up for a hike. As the other reviews stated, the beds are very comfortable and the linens terrific; very nice to come back to after a long afternoon, as was the pianist in the lobby who played beautifully. We were able to check in early, which was very accommodating. On the downside, the movies on demand was out of service during our stay and the desk told me that the techs were out for Christmas. One of the two elevators was out of order, as well. The renovations in the bathroom were sloppy. The walls are paper thin and we woke up to our neighbor blowing his nose, burping and announcing "rise and shine" to his companion. So these things were disappointing. We really wanted to love this hotel.
