We stayed at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel for one night (a Saturday night) in early November in a Deluxe, One King Bed, City View room. We had already spent a week in San Francisco a couple of weeks earlier, but had to come back to fly home to Australia, and wanted a central location.
The Deluxe City View room we were in was on the 20th floor. We were advised at check-in that the room was on the floor below the nightclub and you can hear some noise, and as it was a Saturday the club would be going until 1am. It was after 9pm when we checked-in and we still needed to get in to our room, shower, and go and have some dinner, so we figured 1am wasn’t too bad and we probably wouldn’t be hitting bed until then anyway. Turns out on Saturday nights it goes until 2am, which while only an hour more, is the longest hour ever when you are trying to get to sleep! And it’s not just a bit of noise, you can clearly hear the music and make out the lyrics. Just getting to your room on a Saturday night is difficult, it almost seems like those going up to The Starlight Room nightclub get lift preference somehow. There really should be one of the lifts blocked off for the nightclub and the rest for guests who are trying to get to their room.
The bed was definitely NOT a King bed, it is a Queen at a stretch. The bathroom was also tiny. We had to call housekeeping on three occasions: for more pillows, there were only two, and even folding them over didn’t help (there were no spare ones in the clo
