Great location

The Sir Francis Drake was a great hotel! The room was spacious and clean. The location was great for shopping and there were lots of great restaurants right in walking distance. The door men were all friendly and helpful during our stay. My family would definitely stay at this hotel again in the future.

Just ok

Cons: room arrangement
Stayed here for a wedding. The lobby is large and check in was easy. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable, but it was small for two double beds. There was just a bit of room around the beds to walk. The bathroom was really tiny. Very challenging to get ready to go out since there was not even a place to plug in the blow dryer near the mirror outside of the bathroom. Coffee and tea served in the lobby each morning was a nice touch. However we found the evening bar staff to be rude.

Pros: Comfortable bed!
Cons: Housekeeping. They just never showed up to clean our room.
What a fantastic hotel! It lives up to every picture online. The hotel staff was very accommodating and pleasant as well.

Nice vintage hotel near Union Square

Flew into San Francisco for Spring Break with my 16 year old daughter. Wanted to stay somewhere nice, but vintage, showing the history of San Fran. This hotel was perfect. The concierge got us last minute tickets to Alcatraz, but more importantly combined those tickets with a City Doubledecker Tourbus. We took the full tour twice, and rode the bus partially to the Pier 39 exits and the Golden Gate park exits. Great whirlwind trip. 5 days. Loved it.

We came with our kids for Easter weekend and enjoyed our time greatly at this hotel. The staff was so helpful and kind. We'll definitely go back!

Heart of SF near Union Square

Pros: Location. Location, Location.
Location: Heart of SF near Union Square
Weekend trip to SF. Easy downtown access. Valet parking. Hotel provided central location for touring this part of SF.

Run down hotel....the shining!!

Pros: NOTHING
Cons: New management team and a decorater
Rooms were poorly decorated and smelled of mold. Staff were uncourteous and their in house service ends at 10pm, couldn't even get a bottle of water even though there had been no mini bar refills for 2 days. The club on the top floor brought in an awful element to the hotel on Friday night.

Very disappointing room

The rooms need updating . No tea/coffee making machine in room . Very poor . No complimentary water. The bathroom was so small and dated no where to even put a toiletry bag! This was supposed to be a deluxe king sized room , but it was very poor. The brasserie in the hotel was very overpriced for the quality of the food .

We offer a coffee and tea service in the lobby for guests as well. I hope you can give us another chance to show you some of our larger rooms in the future!

Not a 4 Star Hotel but OK

Beautiful lobby but really an older hotel that feels older even with updates. Nice staff but rooms are really basic and ours was small. Very small. I don't spend a lot of time in the room so not a big deal. It is in a great location regardless. I would say that from my experience, this is really a 3 or 3.5 star hotel, not a 4 star.
