Attentive staff

Location: The Jewish Community Center is directly across the street, and the hotel's bar is pretty cool. Not much other than that.
I am a Starwood gal, but had a work event two blocks from this hotel and wanted to be able to hop over to my work event whenever needed. The staff was extremely attentive as I had a leak in my room from the enormous amount of rain that had fallen in the previous two weeks. The leak was through an interior wall and was near the front door and bathroom. It was more of a slowly growing wet spot on the carpet nearest the door and bathroom. While it didn't bother me in the least, I did let the staff know. They asked me if I wanted to be moved, but I was ok staying there. The problem was fixed the next morning (I heard all of the banging, drilling and such) and I was told the hotel was undergoing a renovation and the carpet was due to be changed anyway. The staff was very attentive and apologetic with my situation. Even though I'm a Starwood gal, just because of the attentiveness, I would stay here again.

Nice hotel between Presidio and Laurel Heights

Pros: Location and Ellas across the street for Brunch - local favorite.
Cons: Offer a view when you book it!
Location: Close to Fillmore for fashion shopping and the Presidio heights for boutique home shopping. Walking distance to Spruce -expensive/nice restaurant.
Relatively nice hotel but could use updating. Beds are hard, TV remote was in need of batteries, cleaning service soso, and I had to ask for the wi-fi password. Online room was also listed as a city view, instead it was a view of scaffolding -- I received not apologies or discount in my rate :(

The hotel was beautiful! It was the perfect place to stay for an impromptu trip to San Fransisco. The staff members were lovely and warm and the treats in the morning were a great touch!

Old and smells of mildew

The staff was friendly and their coffee in the lobby was actually really good. But that was the only good part of the experience. The moment I stepped into their hallway, I can already smell the mildew and my allergies immediately kicked in. Our bedroom was no different. The couch was so old and stained, I didn't want to sit on it. The bed sheets had stains. I don't know if it was because of the remodeling where they had all the windows closed but that really didn't help with the mildew smells. Opening up the windows did help but I still couldn't deal with stains. We chose this hotel because it was close to a holiday party we were attending. I just decided not to drink too much at the party and ended up checking out after the party and making the drive home instead. Super disappointed. I've been to other Jose de Vivre hotels and they are usually very nice. They're remodeling now so hopefully they gut this thing and really clean it out.

Great boutique hotel under renovation

This is my go-to hotel when visiting San Francisco. Great location, pet friendly, friendly staff, and sort of feels like how hotels were years ago - small, personal, non-standardized and not all that commercial. Just friendly and comfortable. The hotel is currently renovating, so this visit was impacted with a modest amount of noise from workers. I'm looking forward to the changes and will be visiting again in a few months.

Reasonable hotel but could improve.

A small hotel in close proximity to most requirements. On arrival we were given the wrong room. As the place was full we couldn't be relocated. No offer of a refund or anthing, which was very disappointing. We parked our car for one night yet they tried charging us for 3! The place could do with some TLC. Overall the place was okay but I am sure there are better ones.

I stayed here for 2 nights while in SF for an interview. It got the job done. Ella's diner is right across the street which was a perfect place for a quiet breakfast or lunch (though the hotel lobby also as a platter of pastries and coffee). Overall the hotel is a bit expensive for what you get, but not terribly so. The rooms are without AC, but do come with a fan, but for me that wasn't quite enough as I was in SF on a particularly warm day. Otherwise the bed was comfortable and the shower/bathroom area was just fine. It's missing just a few polished pieces (AC, walls are quite thin and noisy, better access to outlets) but it is starting to undergo renovation (one floor at a time) beginning in November 2016 so hopefully those traveling in the future have an even better experience. Overall, nice area and nice, safe place to stay which at the end of the day is most important.

Great Stay in San Francisco

This was an amazing stay for me. I was working long days and I would come home to happy friendly people, a free snack and juice or water in the lobby, and a comfortable, quiet room. I highly recommend this hotel.

Didn't look like the pictures

Pros: Very nice Location, you can take the public transportation in front of the hotel and go to any where, eating nearby in very nice place
Cons: Shower pressure was too low, it was very uncomfortable to take a shower. The room wasn't as pretty as it looks in pictures.
Location: Good eating, great transportation, nice to walk through
