A memorable stay in a unique victorian hotel.Posted Oct 6, 2015
Pros: All the old furniture. Everything.
Cons: not much.
Location: You should stay more than one night. It's SF---there's lots to do.
Our only mistake was eating out. The rooms are so comfortable and filled with charm, that getting the room service is what we'll do next time.

Hotel in need of repairs and renovation.Posted Oct 4, 2015
NO air conditioning. Should be stated up front. Poor condition, needs renovation entrance tiles cracked/broken and missing. Carpet not even stretched completely to the walls, Downstairs dining area most nicest of the facility and most recently renovated. Room was not in good condition.

Comfortable and clean. Wild decor!Posted Sep 29, 2015
Cons: Clarify the parking availability on the website.
Nice sized room, comfortable, and clean. Close to the Opera House (3/4 mile, downhill...took a cab back). Decor is supposed to be Victorian, but is a wild mishmash of furniture periods and styles. Undistinguished breakfast buffet. Staff is pleasant and helpful. They do have parking available, which wasn't clear to me from the website.

nice hotel in San FranciscoPosted Sep 11, 2015
The breakfast was good except for the coffee - worse I've ever had and decaf available only during breakfast even though the decaf coffee was really bad too. Coffee pot and coffee included in the room but not decaf and maid did not replenish. When we stayed there it was hot in SFO and the hotel does not have A/C. we opened the window but that didn't really help. Had to request a fan on the last night which the hotel staff brought up to us right away. All in all ok but over priced.

Aging Hotel Will Remind You of GrandmaPosted Sep 8, 2015
Pros: Location, reasonable breakfast included.
Cons: Everything needs updated, especially the beds and the bathroom. Staff could be a little nicer.
Location: Great location
Vintage or retro would be an understatement. Victoriana vomited all over this hotel. While I would normally be charmed and by all of the antiquey-ness of the hotel it was incredibly musty and I can't remember the last time I slept at a hotel that had beds as uncomfortable as these. Everything seemed old in a "I don't want to touch this" sort of way. Location is the only saving grace of this hotel. Even the front desk clerk was rude and seemed horrified that I was trying to check in a mere hour before official check-in. He told me no right away without even checking, turned out my room was already ready anyways.

Victorian Experience Close to EverythingPosted Aug 27, 2015
Pros: Location and uniqueness. Not your run of the mill anywheresville hotel.
Cons: The mattress definitely needs to be replaced. remove the old green carpet and remodel bathroom to look more period.
Location: Very centrally located. Easy access to all attractions.
Victorian experience in modern day San Francisco. Decorated throughout in Victorian antiques but with modern day amenities. Enjoy a complimentary sherry curled up in a comfortable chair next to a fire in period fireplace. Minutes walk away from the heart of the action but you can escape back to a quiet respite at the end of the day. Staff was very helpful and cheerful. Definitely not your usual mundane clone hotel experience. Only complaint was the mattress, It was hard and springy.

A nice change from samey modern hotelsPosted Aug 25, 2015
Pros: Character, but the standard things are all up to scratch as well.
Cons: Aircon would be nice if the weather ever got hot, which is rare in SF
Location: A bus ride from Union Square, there are other bus routes nearby plus the California St cablecar is nearby, for a fun way to the centre.
I stayed in 2 San Francisco hotels on my recent trip, and this was by far the nicest. A characterful building, it makes a nice change from most US hotels which either tend to me giant modern blocks or dull motels. Like being back in the UK in fact! The only downer for many people will be the location. You feel a bit off the beaten trail here, which may or not be a good thing. Food and drink options in the area were slightly disappointing, though I can recommend Tommy's Joint!

Nice old place with charmPosted Jul 31, 2015
Pros: Character. Will recommend on this alone.
Cons: Needs painting, new beds, microwaves and include parking in price. That wasn't a nice surprise.
Location: No food with easy access. "Roomservice" was mediocre at best and very pricy for pizza in S.F.
I expected a microwave. Even cheap places have one. It was a bit beat up and in need of paint and a new bed. Careful... parking is stiff. Otherwise, it was extremely quiet and charming. A good nights sleep.
