This was te worst night I had ever have at an hotel room. The neighborhood was not save and the room was not clean. We were afraid to get out for dinner because all the junks around at night. Definately this is not a place to go with your family , so if you can afford something else its better to go to other place

Decent hotel. Terrible area.

Hotel is OK but even for a 2-star the room had several issues that could have been fixed if it weren't for pure negligence: for instance, bathtub coating was worn out, bathroom door would not close completely and breakfast items were a few days old. I'd give the hotel 1.5 stars to be more accurate. The real issue is with the area though. Definitely Not family friendly and sketchy at night. This isn't just a poor and lively area. It's junkie central. People out there are on the hardest and nastiest drugs on the market and acting completely delirious. We saw a woman casually putting a needle in her forearm at 12pm and 2 guys walking around with crack pipes. To compare, we got to pass by Mission street during our trip and this is even something else. What makes is very uncomfortable is how unpredictable hard drug addicts can be. We were a group of 2 guys and had to have our guards up the whole time at night and were careful by day. If you're on a budget, I'd still consider some other place or to make short Uber/Lyft/Cab rides to avoid walking through the 3-4 sketchy blocks.

If you're reading this, don't book the Regency Inn

I was skeptical of others reviews saying the area is bad and full of vagrants. Being a large city I knew some less fortunate people would be around. How wrong I was. Upon arrival I parked on the street about 100ft from the hotels entrance. Across the street was a makeshift shelter for about 3 to 4 homeless individuals. Hypodermic needles littered the street in addition to the normal trash you'll find in a city. The hotel staff displayed an attitude of apathy but explained the room, wifi, breakfast well enough. We got to the room and began to check things out. We found that the sheets had holes in them and the mattress pat had not been cleaned or had some major stains on it. There was a pair of sandals from a previous patron under the bed and the overall cleanliness was poor. The bathroom door did not shut fully and the windows were not good at all for insulating from the street noise outside. At this point it was 10pm and we decided to try and sleep and rebook a new place for our second night in the city. Called expedia and had a ticket opened to start in a refund of the second night due to the extreem poor condition and service of our accomidations. The front desk staff was preoccupied for couple minutes before we were acknowledged, I explained why we were checking out early and inquired on a refund on the 2nd day. They didn't care and later told expedia I used the full 2 days. Untrustworthy and horrible hotel. Do not book.

Scary, scary, scary – car broken into.

I obviously didn’t do enough checking of reviews before I booked this hotel – don’t make the same mistake I did. We were traveling on a road trip from Denver to LA by way of the national parks. We staid in 9 different hotels over the 2-week trip and this one was the most expensive and BY FAR our worst experience. The hotel itself is old, shabby and dirty with stains on the sheets, holes in blankets and who knows what wiped on the wall. The neighborhood has a series homeless problem with people digging through trash cans in front of the hotel and urinating on the sidewalks. Don’t expect to sleep because sirens will be going off all night and anyways you’ll be too busy worrying if someone will break into your room or your car will be stolen. Sure enough when I went out in the morning to the adjacent street where I had parked, the window was smashed and most of what we had left in our car, which wasn’t too much, was gone. Instead of sightseeing in San Francisco as planned, we spent our day filling out the police report and getting a replacement rental car.

Bad room, very small for the price, no parking no amenities, too expensive for the quality of the room with few more dollars I should get something better that that. Hand sink was falling of the wall, bathtub was peel off, no AC. A lot of noise from the outsiders etc etc Not to my expectations.
