Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco

757 Market St, San Francisco 94103 - Map
"Great hotel in the middle of the shopping district"
If you are first time visitors to San Francisco and don't know the map, this hotel is in the best area close but not to close to Union Square. This is where everything happens. You can easily and nearby get on a tube, a cable car and a bus. You are in the shopping district. You have 10 blocks to the Chinese district and 15 to the North Beach (Italian district). The hotel is 5 stars. Period. The staff is super friendly and helpful - from the doorman who greats you every time you enter, the concierge to the reception. Clean, clean, clean rooms and you have access to the great gym and an Olympic size pool (we didn't use this since we were too busy). I will recommend this hotel anytime and go back again. We booked this through Expedia and got a good rate. Internet was working 100% and was free of charge as well as a daily newspaper of your choice.

Sir Francis Drake, a Kimpton Hotel

"Very nice hotel, loud from street noises"
This is a lovely hotel with recent renovations which still capture the time in which it was built. There is no way to block all the street noise - our room was on Powell St, where the cable cars run, so throughout the day you'd hear the dinging of the cars. Also, we had rowdy neighbors who came back to their rooms at around 2 on Saturday morning, yelling and having a good time. They seemed to stay in the hall for about 15 minutes, but at least one of their own shushed them at some point. The wine hour is a nice touch, option of red or white, and they have a snack as well. If you are a Kimpton rewards member (free), you'll get a $10 credit for use in the bar or mini-bar. Check out the Starlight Room - great views of the city!

Lovely hotel, great location. Steakhouse was expensive and disappointing. Room was large with a great view. Staff all very helpful and courteous.

"Well located, nice boutique hotel"
Looked for a well priced boutique hotel experience close to shopping and Moscone center for convention and in close proximity to other convention goers at neighboring hotels. Hotel lobby was updated and nicely decorated and rooms were very clean and modern (although small) and staff was accomodating. My only complaint was when I asked places to eat they couldn't provide any recommendations. Overall experience was great and would stay there again if pricing stays under most other alternatives

Chancellor Hotel on Union Square

"Nice hotel central San Francisco"
The Chancellor is a nice old world hotel located in the middle of the shopping and restaurant district in San Francisco. The rooms are a little on the small side however this just added to the charm. Our first option was to stay at Fisherman's Wharf but so glad that we opted for a hotel at Union Square as there are better restaurants and the overall feel is much better.

2 New Montgomery St, San Francisco 94105 - Map
"Comfortable bed, great location!"
Located right on Market at Montgomery, we took BART from SFO airport, got off at the Montgomery stop and walked up the stairs to the hotel, super convenient. We were in town for a Giants game and were able to easily walk to AT&T Park. The Ferry Building is a short walk away, as well. The staff were friendly and helpful, the beds were comfy and the pool is pretty amazing. We will definitely stay here again.

"Small but cozy."
Room was small, but we were not in it except to sleep. I was a little concerned about lack of AC, but as the staff told me, it was not needed in July. We asked to be in the back of the hotel where it was more quiet and it was quieter than the front . There are larger rooms at the front of the hotel and I would request one of them if I return. The room was clean and we had no problems. The front desk was helpful when we needed directions, cab, etc. It is in a good location in a nice area of the city.

"Nice, clean, new hotel."
It's always a pleasure to stay at a new hotel - clean, comfortable, and up-to-date. My only gripe is that the room wasn't quite big enough for the King-size bed - not enough room for the desk and chair. Put a smaller queen-size bed in the room and it would be close to perfect.
