I arrived at the hotel early because my flight was bumped up. They were able to check me in early and were so accommodating. I loved the location of the hotel. I felt safe. It was within walking distance of lots of restaurants and bars and only a 30 minute walk to Fisherman's Warf.

A Nice Place to Rest for a Good Price

Pros: The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I didn't try the lobby restaurant (Fino), but it was packed every night, so I assume it was good.
Cons: WiFi service was awful! I could get a connection, but loading even the simplest web page took minutes. If you're a heavy wifi user be warned!
I was traveling to San Francisco for a conference and needed a nice place to stay without spending the $500+ per night the "name brand" hotels were charging. After searching exhaustively on Expedia I settled on the Andrews. The reviews were pretty good and it was relatively close to the conference venue. When I got there I was pleasantly surprised and had a quite enjoyable stay for the week. The Andrews is one of those classic old city buildings that has been retrofitted to serve as a modern hotel. There is a small sitting area/lobby and a check-in desk on the first floor. The elevator is small and there's only one, so if you have a lot of bags or a large group you may have to make a couple of trips. My room was small, consisting of a bed, a desk/chair, a small TV, and a lounge chair. That's it. I wasn't planning on spending much time in the room so the smallness didn't bother me much, but this is not a room you'll be entertaining guests in. The bathroom was small and utilitarian, consisting of a stall shower, sink, and a toilet. Cold water was cold & hot water was hot - washing and showering presented no problems. One big drawback of the small bathroom size was that the toilet was oriented right up against the sink. I'm tall, so when I sat on the toilet my knees were crushed up against the sink - not very comfortable! Continental breakfast was served in the hall of each floor. Muffins/pastries, fruit, juice, and coffee. Not a huge selection, but enough to start the day.

Pros: location, a.m. snacks, valet parking punctual and staff.
Cons: dust dust dust, window sills and where the carpet and walls meet plus corners.
Location: location is centrally located in the city, plenty of restaurants, bars and event centers close by.
nice hotel, staff friendly and helpful. Valet parking very nice and reasonable. Morning snacks fresh and tasteful. Rooms are small and a little dusty. Ironing board and iron in very bad shape, iron leaks water and board bent and wobbles, iron would fall over because of unevenness.

Great hotel for a visit to San Francisco

If you're looking for a no frills, but clean and cozy hotel central to the city, this is it. The staff is pleasant and helpful. The hotel is old but very well maintained. Our room was very clean and continued to be so each day. The complimentary breakfast is so convenient if you're on the go. There is some mild noise outside during both day and night hours, but in a city that is to be expected. We would definitely stay again!

Central location, tiny room

This place is great for just crashing for a night and enjoying San Francisco sites. The highlights include a continental breakfast served on every floor (croissants/muffins, coffee/tea/decaf, fruit) and there was shampoo/conditioner/bodywash in the shower. They also have a neat old fashioned elevator, and if you like old fashioned/retro then this hotel is the one for you. It seemed a bit like a haunted mansion when we got up to our floor. The downsides are that the room is quite small and the bed not amazingly comfortable, more meant for one person in our room at least. The bathroom was quite small too with a toilet that had some difficulties flushing (have to hold down). It would have been very cold in the room too without the radiator on because the windows were leaky.
