This place is conveniently located to Union Square. Hotel was dark and dirty; ants crawling around on shabby rugs in the lobby.
I requested that my room be cleaned (must provide 24 hours notice AND request it yourself), and it took two days for my room to be cleaned. Some of the hotel staff is completely unprofessional, and at one point, harassed a colleague of mine because of a PRIVATE conversation he was having. The staff pursued both my colleague and me into the street badgering us for our room number because "a guest" complained about a conversation we were having, which was completely innocent and irrelevant to anyone else. They literally tried to intimidate us based on something overheard (wrongly, I might add) by a "Karen" who didn't have the guts to say something herself. Mind you, I stayed here a week and this is how the staff acted. It was so ridiculous that it was surreal. This place gets an "F" in the customer service category. Meanwhile, people were slamming doors all night which rattled the walls down the entire hallway. Where was Karen then? Will not return. This truly was a "get what you pay for" scenario. I've stayed in classier hostels.
