Nice Pit Stop on the Way to NapaPosted Sep 30, 2015
Pros: The location.
Cons: Update the decor and enlarge, and update the Old Clock Bar.
Location: The location for shopping, eating and sight seeing was great.
I was excited to stay in this well located hotel on my way to wine country for a business meeting. I was disappointed in the decor and felt that it needed freshening. While the rooms were nice, they also were kind of dull. The beds were great and the rooms were quiet so we slept like rocks. I like old hotels but I was most disappointed in the bar and restaurant amenities. The Old Clock Bar was dark and didn't have any charm. The Bourbon Steak House didn't appeal to me and the Oak Room while nice inside didn't compel me to eat there. I think what I missed most was a bar that was lively and relatively bright maybe with some entertainment. I also had issue with the elevators in that you had to enter the floor you wanted to go to on a low mounted keypad and they stick your card key in a narrow slot in about 2 seconds or you couldn't get to your floor. Given the darkness and in a crowd it very difficult. It takes some getting used to.

Lovely hotel, great location. Steakhouse was expensive and disappointing. Room was large with a great view. Staff all very helpful and courteous.

Nice hotel, very good locationPosted Sep 25, 2015
Cons: none, very pleasant staff, even though we don't typically have much contact with hotel staff
Location: plenty of shopping, resturants etc, within walking distance. Johnny Foleys dueling piano bar was a real fun experiance.
we went into the city for just a little weekend get away, hotel was perfectly located for what we wanted to do, Union square, China town, Giants game and plenty of good eating spots around

Stayed in the starwood preffered floor.. 27.. The views are beautiful very romantic at night. You can see the golden gate and all bay. I reccomend high high floor. Walking distance to everything. Eat at Bourbon Steak. Lobby bar good. Definately coming back.

Grand hotel in the heart of San FranciscoPosted Sep 21, 2015
Pros: Location, location, location. Union Square outside the front door, with all the main stores within easy reach on foot.
Cons: Room service. Every night I hung the 'do-not-disturb' message on the door - and every morning room service came in and woke us up. Bit disappointing.
Location: All the big retail stores. The Cheesecake Factory in Macy's. The famous SF cable Cars. All within walking distance of the hotel's front door
The Westin, St Francis is a grand old hotel in the heart of San Francisco, set on the famous Union Square. In terms of location - there probably isn't a better spot in the whole City. The check in staff and concierge desk staff were superb - both friendly and helpful - as were the valet parking team and luggage storage staff. 10/10 for them. The rooms are a bit underwhelming in terms of decor - but the beds were large and fantastically comfy. Apart from a small gripe about being woken up every morning by room service, I really enjoyed this hotel. It isn't as 'groovy' or 'trendy' as the boutique hotels - but San Francisco is a City for exploring - and I didn't really spend that much time using the hotels amenities. The buffet breakfast was perfectly adequate but we chose to eat out in the evenings, so can't comment on the in-house restaurant. But is was full every evening - so I guess it was OK. I was travelling with my adult kids, aged 20 and 23 - and we had a blast. I'd stay again.

Right across from Union Square and super shoppingPosted Sep 21, 2015
Pros: The location couldn't be better! And the hotel is lovely, old school. The room was small (especially the bathroom) but very comfortable and bed was
Cons: Bathroom too small
Location: Fantastic shopping, Saks Fifth Ave; Macys, Nordstroms - lots of restaurants
I was there for a wedding and everywhere I needed to go was within walking distance. I spent a whole day at Macys and found a better outfit for the wedding than the one I brought with me.

Nice historic hotel. Best location. Fantastic view from the tower. Don't eat at the steakhouse. Famous chef, but is realy an overpriced tourist trap.

Room was NOISEY, small and needing repairPosted Sep 15, 2015
Pros: Nice location
Heard the room on one side watching television into the night, woke to the sound of guests on the other side taking showers. It was Motel 6 quality. Won't go back.
