Not ideal for families who need space.

My husband and I decided to bring our 3 and 5 year old with us to see Cirque de Soleil and thought this would be a great location in Union Square... BAD choice. Although the staff was very friendly, the hotel was just not what we had hoped for. Things to know about this place, to get to the hotel you have to drive down Powell St. even though there are street signs that tell you "do not enter", then you park in front of the hotel, have to go to the front desk for them to call the valet service which is off-sight. To valet or pick up our car was a 20 minute wait so keep that in mind if you are seeing a show. At first glance the lobby seems nice, but once you walk to the elevators you suddenly see the quality of this place- old and tiny. My husband and I who are slender, with our 2 kids and 2 pieces of luggage could barely fit in the elevator. When the woman at the front desk saw we had small air mattresses for the kids she gave us the "deluxe room", and I am grateful for that since the deluxe room was super small already. My 3 year old immediately found a metal beer topper on the floor, there was hair in our shower and sink, rusty plumbing on the bathroom ceiling, and some smeared make-up (I think) on the walls of the bathroom. I always travel with Clorox wipes, and this place made me grateful for that. We made the mistake of bringing my husband's truck for our travels, and ended up spending $80 a NIGHT for valet. Next time I would stay in a large scale hotel instead.
