A Bare Minimun Hotel

Posted Jul 6, 2016
We stayed here on July 4, 2016. The inn advertised free parking, but when we got there, the staff said they were out of parking spaces but not to worry, I would just need to double park and give the office my keys so they could move it if the other person needed to get out of their parking space. In the end, I did get my own parking space, but it was outside of the gated parking lot, out on the main street. The beds were comfortable and reasonably clean. There was a sign in the bathroom that said 'Warning: Water temperature may fluctuate". The bathroom seemed clean until we took a hot shower and the steam brought out the smell of urine. The room had a heater, but the staff didn't 'turn on the heat' until approximately 11:00 that night. When we called down for two more blankets, I was told to come down and pick them up. When I did, the man working that night was out front smoking, apologized for not being in the lobby, said he had to stand out front and act as security as all the crazies went by. He said that if he doesn't stand out there, they come into the gated area where the parking, elevator and stair entrance is and they pee on site and rifle though people's cars. We chose this hotel because I knew there would be large crowds and we didn't want the hassle of transportation after the fireworks. The location was convenient but we went to sleep that night not feeling safe. Plus, we paid 300.00 for the night!! We won't be staying there again.

Clean, great location. Not updated but perfect for adventuring the city. We didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel, so amenities weren't a big deal to us. Walking distance to all or favorites. Staff was accommodating, although they don't keep much on hand if you forget anything at home. Overall great experience!

Service and overall rating would be higher if they would let you check in an hour early when clearly the place is empty. Its like to I drive around for forty minutes looking for a spot to park when I booked this place for the free parking aspect but they charge you 25 bucks to check in early. I could see if it was hours before and people still hadn't checked out I asked to just park and come back to check into the room but NO!( it was said emphatically that's why I capitalized no, again parking lot is baron), its expensive to park so I may as well pay it and not have to come back and waste half my afternoon. I stay at hotels all the time and most will let you check in a little early at the very least Park until the room is ready.
