Little touches keep me coming back!Posted Oct 5, 2015
Pros: The rooms are classic Victorian comfort - big fluffy beds and arm chairs by the fireplace. They even fill the shelves with books.
Cons: Some of the bathrooms have gotten a bit worn out; however, my recent room was perfect!! Spacious but cozy and the bathroom had updated granite vanity!
Location: Walk to Union Square, Chinatown and North Beach, catch the cable car right up the street and take it all the way to Fisherman's Wharf.
The White Swan is my preferred San Francisco hotel...I have fallen in love with the Victorian coziness and charm, as well as the fabulous location. I love their evening reception, usually much more than just "wine and cheese", and enjoyed in the cozy parlor with fireplace, sofas and arm chairs...it's a great chance to meet fellow guests from around the world. Breakfast is a very tasty buffet, and the coffee, tea & cookies available around the clock are a fabulous touch. This is my third stay at White Swan and the staff has never failed to be friendly and accommodating, from front desk to housekeeping. I feel as though I am coming home to a beloved bed and breakfast rather than a hotel, and have already booked for a Christmas visit!

Quaint and QuietPosted Sep 13, 2015
Pros: The hotel decor was great, and the old-timey elevator was very cool! A special shout-out to Leon, who was a pleasure to talk to every morning!
Location: Shopping on Market Street is a short walk, Uncle Vito's Pizza is down the street (great, affordable Italian fare), BigBus & Blazing Saddles bike tours
The White Swan Inn is a charming hotel with staff to match! My husband, son and I stayed here recently for our 5 day vacation and were blown away by the friendly staff, terrific continental breakfasts, and clean room! The hotel is within walking distance to major shopping areas, streetcars, BigBus and bike tours. Loved it!

Quaint older hotel, but great staffPosted Sep 10, 2015
This is an older hotel but was clean and provided a great breakfast. The staff were truly outstanding though - the friendliest and most helpful you could imagine. We travelled with a four month old baby - they provided a crib, smiles, and ever-present help with the few steps at the entrance.

Don't waste your moneyPosted Aug 23, 2015
The only good thing that we can say is that the room was giant. Its condition was bad. The room was stuffy and smelled bad, even after we kept the windows open for couple of hours. We were able to open only part of the windows. Half of them were stuck. There were scratches on the legs of the bed. Bath room with rust in the sink and dark stains in the bathtub. We ordered a room with a sofa bed but it was not available and we got a rollaway bed. We moved to a different hotel after several hours. The staff did not do anything to make us stay. We don’t understand why this hotel has such a high rate on other reviews. It is old with no charm and there are much better options in SF.

Room not cleaned prior to our checkin. A half eaten candy bar and trash bag found in night stand drawer. The toilet flooded our room on the last day.

Comfortable, great locationPosted Jul 28, 2015
We were three adults in our king-size room with an additional roll-away bed. The room was large with a loveseat and an additional chair and ottoman, so we didn't have to fight over places to sit. The friendly staff helped us arrange taxis for pre-dawn pickups, and put out extra energy drinks and snacks for those of us who were in town for the marathon. The breakfast buffet was simple but had all the basics. Would absolutely recommend it and would stay there again.

Good location for walking the cityPosted Jul 17, 2015
Loved the location - room large and spacious... On 5 th floor - a real 'hot box', they had a fan thank goodness ...noisey on street - need a room in back if staying there again ...
