Would not stay here again

Posted Oct 9, 2017
Pros: Proximity to airport
Cons: Customer service is terrible, rooms did not appear clean.
Location: Airport only
We booked this hotel as a place to stay for an early morning flight out of SFO. We arrived at 9pm the night before. The front desk clerk lacked any customer service skills, but processed everything quickly. We confirmed that the airport shuttle picked up at 6:10am. The room itself was dingy, stains on the walls, etc, but as we booked a cheap hotel, we weren't really expecting much. My problem with the hotel started the next morning when the front desk called his shuttle driver to let him know that he had an airport pickup waiting. This was at 6:05, and we were told that it would be ready as scheduled, at 6:10. With 5 minutes to spare, my husband was told he had time to use the restroom. At 6:07, the shuttle arrived. I went outside with our luggage and told the driver that my husband would be out in a minute. The driver angrily stated that he had no time to wait and stormed back to his seat. I stepped into shuttle doorway, while holding on to my luggage, to let the driver know that my husband was already on his way down, and asked if he could please wait. Again, more screaming from the driver and was told to get off the shuttle. Since I did not, the driver literally shut the bus doors ON me. I was being held in between the doors with my luggage, and he stared driving off. I physically had to pry myself and my luggage out of the doors and jump off of the shuttle while it was moving. It was 6:09. Not only could I have been injured, the front desk did not offer other options.

Low expectations

Posted Sep 18, 2017
Parking is tight. Upon checking in went into bathroom and were rags with pubic hairs on them hanging from shower curtain rod. It was 8pm at night, figured a little attention to detail and cleanliness wpuldnt be too much to ask for $133.99 after taxes for one night.

Weed and Bugs

Posted Jul 16, 2017 on Hotels
Well, I try not to really bash on hotels, but this one has (1) no security, it says no smoking and yet you have people smoking weed in the little courtyard/atrium of sorts, so where's the security, place smelled up till where I was in the 3rd floor as I walked in. (2) I woke up itching at 3am, and felt something crawling on my leg, opened the light and I saw 2 bugs, a long one crawling in the sheet and a small bed bug looking thing. I had to flap the whole blanket and took a shower again because it itches which brings me to (3) the shower supplies are in sachets, really? not even small bottles. The parking lot when they said limited, I thought it was because there wasn't really any space, but rather the spots are too small even for regular cars, like everything is compact but not marked so. No, I will not stay here again, the only great thing is the area is close to everything but spend a little more, and stay at better places there, the Ramada next door is better than this, as well as the Super 8 across the street and the Hotel Aura not far from here.

Hello, We apologize for the inconvenience however, bed bugs are something that travel they do not just grow in places. Bedbugs are a common problem in many hotels, movie theaters or any place where there is more human contact. We thoroughly sanitize each room after each guests stay and we have already addressed this problem and are renting the room without any issue. As for the weed smell we are a non smoking premises and do not permit smoke anywhere in the building and on the property. Marijuana is legal in the state of California and we cannot control who smokes it outside the property and cannot stop the lingering of the smell that comes into the building with the person that smokes it. It is like when someone is a cigarette smoker, they may not smoke inside the building but the smell still travels with them. We are also not a huge franchise hotel located in a big city where we have ongoing foot traffic where we would need to have a security detail. We care about the safety of our employees and guests so we lock the main doors of the building at a certain time and have a secure means of entering and exiting the building with the use of your key card. Again we apologize for the inconveniences but we have addressed each problem directly. Thanks you, Gateway Inn & Suites Management

Poorly run Shuttle service from airport

Posted Jul 10, 2017 on Hotels
I chose to stay here as it was advertised as an easy shuttle ride from the airport. Shuttle vans from several other hotel/motels in the area passed by twice as I was still waiting for the one from Gateway. When I called Gateway the first time ( after waiting 1/2 hour) I was told that I must be in the wrong place ( I was in the place marked Shuttle service ) . When I called the 2nd time ( had been waiting 50 minutes) they suggested I take a taxi ( as my expense) The Shuttle finally came after 55 minutes ( and I had been in the right place all the time) WAY too long a wait- other places ( and not just the expensive ones) were there several times

The shuttle service accommodates guests from 4 other hotels in the area. It is a free service that we provide unlike other hotels and we try our best to have the shuttle get there as quickly as possible and it usually takes about 30 minutes to get there depending on how busy it is on the day. We apologize for any inconvenience.
