"Highlight of our trip!"
We stayed at Chaa Creek based upon online reviews, but no amount of praise can do this place justice. Spacious and clean rooms, immaculate grounds, awesome staff, meals that we can't stop talking about (menu changes daily and everything is prepared fresh), plus activities galore. We stayed in a garden suite (reserved a cottage but upgraded?) and were most impressed by the comfort and size of the room. The pool was a great welcome home after a hot day out and about. Note: No air conditioning, but not a problem. Evenings were cool. We definitely will return, and Chaa Creek will be a central part of our vacation plan.

"Beautiful, well designed jungle resort."
We really enjoyed our stay at Mystic River Resort. The rooms are excellent, plenty of space, high ceilings and fans really help keep off the heat. The paths between buildings are beautifully landscaped, and I'm sure more to come as time passes. The staff is friendly and helpful, aside from a couple issues. One, the cleaning staff left one of our cabin's door open when they were done making our friend uncomfortable. Now, they're remote enough, I really don't think it was an issue, but still. The Other issue was somewhat larger, the gentleman at the front desk said he would make reservations for us for our next and last night at the Belize Zoo. He said we were all set, when we got there the zoo wasn't even open because of a holiday. A little honesty "oops I forgot, I'll do it now" would have saved us a bit of trouble, but we managed. The food is ok, though like most jungle lodges it is quite overpriced, in fairness, they do need to staff and supply an entire kitchen for a few guests, it can't be easy! Being offseason, and also so soon after the hurricane, they were still cleaning up (looked beautiful!), but their walking trails currently consist of a road and a trail in disrepair, the trails could use some more work in my personal opinion, but maybe few people really want to walk off on trails in the jungle. Overall our experience was good, and the resort is only a half dozen years old, I'm sure it will just get better and better too.

"nice stay"
The staff was very nice, served meals were family style and delicious. Carlos the caveman gave us a excellent tour of the ATM cave. Only thing bad was the bed was a little hard for our taste, but nothing I could not survive

"Staff like family "
Wow! I mean, wow!!!! I loved this place. The arrival drink and meet, the accommodating tours enroute to and fro, the onsite nature trails and bird watching tower, the untouched environment ( removed one tree to build), the pool, oh, and the delicious meals! We had fresh , local fruits, eggs, re fried black bean, jacks, pork, chicken, jicama salad, zucchini and potato soup, coconut tarts, quesadillas, carrot cake, need I say more?! We were always thrilled to see what was on the menu! Yes, make Mariposa a part of your stay and embrace the true nature of Belize

Pocket Guide: San Ignacio, San Ignacio Adventure Sport Hotels

Multicultural San Ignacio, on the banks of the Macal and Mopan rivers in western Belize, is in the middle of a fascinating part of the country. The ancient Mayan ruins of Caracol and many cave formations, including Actun Tunichil Muknal--with its ceramics and calcified skeletons--are nearby. After exploring the town, go canoeing on the Macal, and bird watching in the Chaa Creek Nature Reserve.
