Hotel is nice and in great location but there is no A/C in the rooms and it gets warm after early morning.

Hi Anonymous, there are just a couple of rooms that may get warm, not hot thank goodness. All of the downstairs rooms in the original building are cool as well as most of the new rooms upstairs. Sorry you had one of the few that gets a bit warm. I always suggest to spend a few dollars more for the upgraded rooms. Thank You Thomas

Only One NightPosted Oct 6, 2015
Pros: What I liked was the fact that the night staff made me feel welcome and they calmed me down from a very tiring flight--my Spanish was not very good bu
Cons: It was noisey with the street sounds.
Location: Never had a chance to explore
I only stayed one night at this hotel so it is a little unfair to rate them. My flight into San Jose was very late and a taxi took me to the hotel --the area at this time of night was very scary. The night staff was very friendly and welcoming which was very pleasant--they spoke to me about my trip and what my plans where and they helped me with areas in the city that I needed to get to. There was no rushing just a very calm and welcoming atmosphere. The hotel itself looked very nice, but again it was late and I was tired. The room was very clean. They did provide me with a wake up call as I requested and before 6:00am I was gone.

Ok hotel in a rough neighborhoodPosted Oct 5, 2015
We stayed at this hotel to be close to a bus terminal. The hotel was ok - a nice pool and hot tub and a pretty good breakfast. The rooms are old looking and not very comfortable or cozy. Nothing special about this experience. The neighborhood is also a bit rough looking (though that is most of San Jose according to those we talked to).

Zentrales Hotel in San JosePosted Sep 6, 2015
Absolut empfehlenswert!!!

Great place to start and to end a Costa Rica-tripPosted Aug 22, 2015
Pros: a Reception. b The Hotel is definitely worth the money. Good value
Cons: The breakfast could be improved.
Location: The Hotel is located close to the National Theater. You'll find supermarkets, cash-machines, pharmacies in the area.
I stayed in the Santo Tomas Hotel on the first day and on the last 3 days of my tour through Costa Rica in July/August 2015. Especially in the end of my trip the friendly receptionist did a great service and supported me with organizing a few different things at the end of my trip. All in all I have a good impression of the hotel.

Nice hotel on a block that is not so greatPosted Aug 18, 2015 on Hotels
Hotel is about 4 blocks from Avenida Central & La Plaza Cultural. Street its located on is a little shady. Bar across the street with cheap alcohol & food, Egyptian restaurant next door. Transvestite hookers are around at night so watch out. Also only about 2 or 3 blocks from El Rey Hotel. Despite the block, once you are inside, hotel is really nice. Free wi-fi, rooms are spacious, free breakfast, small pool. Only 3 or 4 english channels on the TV

I would stay againPosted Jul 21, 2015 on Hotels
the room was spacious and had a nice view of the courtyard with the hot tub and pool. The staff was very knowledgeable and shared tips and best practices. The hotel was in the middle of downtown. Walking distance to any and everything
