Beautiful hotel

Well upon arrival the couple that checked in before us took the last king bed. (I payed for my king bed in April of 2017 and came on vacation in August 2017) All they said was they were moving the room and when I arrived and saw it was not what I payed for , they stated they gave the last bed away to that family who had payed upon arrival but to check in the morning. We were able to get our king bed suite and it was a beautiful room with a comfortable bed and pillows. Some Chanel's were able to be swapped to English and our phone worked (unlike in our previous room which also the telephone did not work). You do get charged a local calling fee (which we did not know untill checkout time) which added to about 40$ with maybe only 3-4 calls locally so that was disappointing. They charge 33 dollars for a 1 way trip from the air port which is about 15-20 minutes away. We took an uber going back to air port and only payed about 15$ so I would deffinetly uber around the area as they are cheaper then the hotel shuttle and local red cabs. The closest beach is about an 1h 30 minutes away. Some restaurants close by and a lot of local fast food like mcdonalds , Taco Bell etc. hotel was beautiful and offered 2 pools and a hot tub. Breakfast was different everyday , keeping some things constant but it was delicious and had a lot of variety. Restaurant in the hotel wast least favorite food that I ate in Costa Rica but the casino in the hotel was a hit and open 24 h.

Like Cold Showers?

If you like cold showers Luke warm at best! During what they consider off peak times the water is so cold. Also room service was slow and cheese pizza was nothing but cheese with too much oil!

Avoid

Terrible experience. The hotel is a throwback to the 1980s. Bad location. Wi-fi didn't work properly until I had to scream multiple times. Found a roach in my washroom. Breakfast was bad. Had problems with my shower curtain and handle ... etc. Etc.

Great room, not close to many restaurants.

When I arrived to the hotel the young gentleman at reception wasn't too friendly. He seemed annoyed and disturbed when I asked questions about the hotel's services. He gave me a keycard that did not work. The housekeeper had to let me into my room. When I brought the keycard down to him and told him. Instead of apologizing he said it was because I had my keycard close to my cell phone. My cell phone was in my purse and I had the keycard in my hand. Other than that everyone else on staff was very helpful and friendly. The following days there was an older gentlemen men at reception. He was very professional, polite, and helpful. Thank you. They had music at the bar one evening and it was great. I was just a bit disappointed with the Welcome I received at check in.

Did't get room I booked

Well, the check in process took quite a long time, then I didnt get the King size bed, but 2 doubles for me and my newly wed...then after getting to the room i was using the bathroom, getting ready to take a shower and this family of 4 walks into the room (as i am peeing) with 2 young girls. The staff had given the same room to them. Only after they saw i posted a negative review did they call me (at 4:30 the next day) and try to offer me an upgrade...I shouldve gotten a refund.

Nice hotel with excellent breakfast

Pros: Staff and breakfast
Location: Being centrally located you can go downtown to see the museums(gold one is the best fyi) do a little shopping if necessary and enjoy cuisine.
The hotel is clean and centrally located, the breakfast options are excellent and sure to be a highlight of your stay.
