Beautiful hotel, food extremely expensive

Posted Apr 13, 2017
The hotel is absolutely beautiful. The view of the lake is amazing. The staff is cordial and friendly. The only thing that I was taken aback by was the food which was extremely expensive. We paid $200 plus for buffet dinner and the next day we found a restaurant nearby where we only spent $45. They were both clean and friendly and the food was actually better at the outside restaurant. The other restaurant even had free access to pools (adult and children) a play area, hammocks to rest. It was just amazing.

Beautiful location and great amenities but...

Posted Mar 29, 2017
Cons: Some of the outdoor furniture is very tired and needs to be replaced
Location: Suspension bridge hike in Natural park
I booked two rooms on a "special" Expedia rate. All rooms overlook the lake and when we checked in I asked for lake view. I was told there are no rooms from which you can actually see the lake because of the forest/jungle growing in between the building with the rooms and the lake. This is not entirely accurate as you have partial view from the second floor and complete view from the 3rd floor. As it turns out our rooms were on the bottom floor (partially built into the hillside) and smelt dank and had mold growing on door panels and up the side of some furniture. I suspect we were given these rooms because of the rate we were paying. Considering we were only there one night I didn't want the hassle of asking to switch rooms.

Beautiful views and sunsets

Posted Mar 4, 2017
Location: Be sure to go into Flores on your way when you first get in- its a 45 minute drive and $80 taxi from the hotel!
A beautiful hotel but a little isolated. No walking trails so after you've seen Tikal there's not much to do except pool or beach. Nice lake and very clean water, food is ok. Rooms don't have as much "Mayan charm" as they could. I've stayed at Villa Maya which had some nice places to walk around and see birds etc, though food wasn't better I liked it better and recommend it over this hotel.

Nice hotel inside the rainforest

Beautiful setting for a hotel, on the beach of Lake Peten Itza and inside the Guatemalan rainforest! You can see and hear howling monkeys on the way to your room! Staff service was great, food was delicious!

Convenient for visiting attractions

The hotel is OK: It seems it hasn´t been renovated in a while. No free wifi and food was kind of expensive. No complimentary tooth brush when I asked

Close to Tikal and all amenities needed!

Posted Aug 31, 2016
The hotel is much closer than Flores. Therefore the ride back after the ruins is much more convenient. Lovely pool and awesome private access to the beach. The staff is super friendly and if we missed anything they took care of preparing us with all that was asked. For the price its much more worth the value than to pay a hostel per person if going with a large group. Went with 10 year old son and he couldnt get enough of the kayaks or pool.

Very peaceful, quiet away from any city noise.

Loved the experience, place is beautiful. Down side access is hard it's about 3 miles on dirt road not well kept, and food is expensive.

Beautiful hotel in the heart of Mayan culture

Posted Aug 8, 2016
I just wish they had the last 3km of the road paved. It was pretty umconfortable visiting near by areas because of that, I had a headache and I really hope there qas no damage to our borrowed car. If they're waiting for the city to pav the road, they'll wait for ever. Its kind of dark and scary as well.
