The room itself was fine and the bed was comfortable. The problem was the plumbing -- most of the time, we did not have hot water. Sometimes when using the shower, the water would heat up very hot, then turn cold after about 1 minute. If you attempted to adjust the temperature to make it cooler, all the hot water would disappear and you were left with a cold shower. Same for the bathroom sink. Other than that, everything else worked okay. The free underground parking was convenient and the staff was friendly; they made up our room every day. Just don't expect the plumbing to work.

Quiet stay
Fairly quiet hotel. Overall it was a pretty decent stay. Under new management and no longer serve Continental breakfast which is disappointing and though.

Don't Judge a Book
The hotel itself is well kept and seems to be cleaned on a daily basis. The furniture is dated, but comfortable. The only issue I had was with the wifi due to me working from home (hotel) but all in all, enjoyed my stay for the second time and will be returning.

The TV channel options are horrible, the picture quality on numerous channels make them unwatchable, and the remote control does not do what it is supposed to, making it almost worthless.

I enjoy the Victorian decore. The large room and high ceiling. Access to outside balcony on 1st flr north side. There was a change of ownership and now no continental breakfast which used to be big plus Wish they would bring it back!

Lovely, quaint hotel
The hotel is quaint, absolutely old fashioned, but remodeled and very clean. Lovely retro decors, very comfortable beds. We will return again when we are in the San Jose area.

There has been a change of ownership and I believe the service has suffered. Used to have free continental breakfast and now only coffee. Dissapointed as this was a plus.

Carlyle Hotel.
We found the Carlyle Hotel to be very pleasant, comfortable and quiet. The staff were friendly and helpful.The location is excellent. Would definitely stay there again.

Perfect affordable place to stay
Fantastic hotel! Convenient location next to an Indian restaurant and a Salvadorian pupusa place a 5 minute walk away. Very safe area, and the hotel room was quiet despite being on a busy street. Our room was nice and clean with comfy beds and blackout curtains. There was even a big bathtub with jets that was perfect. Service was very friendly and let us check out late. The breakfast was basic but a great way to start the day. Would definitely stay here again!

The property is very clean and quiet. Front desk staff is excellent. Property needs to be rennovated and updated. TV & remote were very dated; many channels were snowy. Wi-Fi needs to be updated as it would only work sporadically on one of our devices. Rooms need rennovating as there are broken and worn out fixtures. But overall it was a nice room for a very reasonable price.

Good temporary place to stay
While the place was a bit outdated it was super clean. Had good access to the freeway and restaurants. I had a room with the sliding door to an outdoor deck so I have fresh air during the day while I was working remotely.
