Pros: You have peace and the place is wonderful.

Truly Magical views of San Juan del Sur

Posted Mar 19, 2014
Pros: Quiet with beautiful views. The restaurant food was pretty good but expensive by SJDS standards.
Cons: Foreign language skills for the staff. This would be a cost effective way to increase service and help staffs employment opportunities in the future.
Location: The taxi shuttles where great. Make sure to tip them if they wait for you at the grocery store!
Let me preface this by saying I have over 20 years experience in the hotel and restaurant industry. So I take great umbridge to people who freak out about minor details that have 'absolutely ruined' their vacation. I read some totally unreasonable complaints on Trip Advisor about many of the local area hotels. One of them rated this hotel as a 1 star in the review because of the bug problem. There are steep climbs to get to the villas which are built into the side of the hill. The rooms are beautifully appointed with western style amenities. And the views are priceless. However they do have some right to be disappointed by the relative value of Palermo. I had an ant problem in my room. With hundreds of ants of all sizes climbing around. The problem with ants is the food chain in the jungle. They bring other critters which feed on them including spiders and geckos. The management was quick to bring some spray to try and alleviate the problem. There are some excellent ways to keep this under control. Mint or cinnamon oil provide a pleasing smell and interfere with ants ability to follow each other. Thus keeping the rest of the food chain out of the beautiful rooms. Also a chalk line along the threshold will do the same thing. No need to toxic chemicals which are bad for staff and guest alike. I understand it's impossible to be completely bug free in the jungle. The management should investigate the feasibility of a small corner store for water, snacks etc.

Nice Villa hotel, with plenty of space to stay

Posted Dec 9, 2013
Pros: Open your eyes with the sun lighting the beach and mountains in the horizon, that's what you get in this villa. Big bedroom, and even bigger bathroom
Cons: Would love to have VEGAN options in the menu of the restaurant, even though they have a few vegetarian dishes, they are not enough and could improve
Location: Not so many things to do right on the spot, but you could take a transportation to different beaches
We were looking for a comfortable place to stay for a few days and don't spend a fortune, and this was the best option in San Juan del Sur
