"Great BnB style hotel, steps away from the beach!"
The stay and staff there was amazing! I truly enjoyed my stay and would definitely book again with The Dreamcatcher. My only wish is that I could see Magga the pup more (not sure if that's the correct spelling) :) !!

"A very interesting facility."
Probably the most quaint and interesting hotel we have ever stayed in. Due to it's age and style it may seem run down and cluttered for some people but that is all part of it's interest and charm. Very conveniently located / close to attractions and restaurants in Old San Juan.

"Great choice in Old Town area"
My wife and I had trouble sleeping the first night. Our room on the far end of the building (past the stairs) had constant rumble noise. After that first night we were fine as the room AC was loud enough to drown out the constant mechanical noise. I doubt this will be a problem for most guests. The hotel location is either going to be very good or not good, depending on your priorities. If you want to stay in the old town - complete with cobblestone roads, historic sites and really cool small bars and restaurants, this hotel is perfect and your best choice (we walked past the other hotels in the area). If you want to hang out at the beach, this hotel is not in the optimal location and you should look elsewhere. The breakfast (limited menu, no buffet) is terrific. It's about $20 per person if not included in your room rate. We tried one dinner there, but unfortunately most of the kitchen staff was gone due to a major holiday and a big wedding. Our dinner entrees were horribly over-salted (the server felt bad and the manager removed the charges). The appetizers were great, so I wouldn't count out the restaurant for dinners on normal nights. Good choice if you have a car. Parking is across the street at a valet lot (sign says $25 but hotel will charge you $20/day, unlimited in/out). If you get there on a weekend and a sign says lot full, get the valet's attention and tell him you are at the hotel. Cops will let you through barricades on weekends.

"A good hotel on its way up"
A nice hotel within walking distance of everything in Old San Juan. Definitely boutique-ish, but not annoyingly so. Nice touches, like fresh flowers in the bathroom. A little difficult to find the first time (the one-way streets and lots of construction in the district make navigation a bit challenging) and there's no street parking (the hotel has an arrangement with a parking lot about a block away). Comfortable room; like the high ceilings. Roof terrace is nice; if all the building tops looked pretty it would be a fantastic view, but most roofs are what you'd expect. Plunge pool is a definite perk, though. Very much a "villa" sort of feel, with a very open lobby and atria throughout. Would have no qualms staying here again. A couple little drawbacks/considerations: The hotel describes itself as being newly renovated, but that's a little anticipatory. It is largely done, but there was still renovation-type work happening while we were there (painting in the lobby, moving the bar). None of this affected the room we had nor impacted our experience staying there. The elevator is extremely slow (but since other hotels I looked at didn't even have an elevator, perhaps this isn't a detriment.) Hallway noise can be a bit disturbing because the tile gives it a lot of life and reverb. Not sure anything can be done about that. The room is fine but a little bland -- just plain white walls. I think a little in-room art would go far in making it look spectacular.

"Cute historical gem in the middle of old town"
When my fiance and I came to Puerto Rico, we wanted to stay somewhere that FELT like we were in Puerto Rico (not some generic hotel), and this little gem right in the heart of old town was definitely that. We really enjoyed our stay, but I wouldn't recommend it for everyone. One of the biggest pros is the locations. This is right across from the main cathedral in the heart of old town (hidden next door to the exorbitantly expensive Hotel El Convento) — and just a block from the coast. It's also just a short walk to the castle. The down side is that if you're renting a car, it can be a bit difficult to get all the way here and down the tiny cobbled streets. There is also NO HOTEL PARKING — you'll need to valet right next to the cathedral for $21/day. Trust me, you want to do that. The staff is absolutely fantastic — very helpful and willing to give you a list of recommendations for where to go for the best food, the best drinks, the best music, etc. The rooms themselves are definitely different. Very much on the small side. Our room fit our bed, a tiny night stand, mini dresser, and little TV. You can barely even pass each other inside. The shower is big enough, but the water had only 2 settings: cold and scalding. So we had to do a bit of back-and-forth regulating. The electricity also went out one of the mornings, but we decided to just go in town and it was back on when we came back. So overall, not the biggest or most luxurious accommodations, but certainly unique.

"Wonderful stay"
Why only 4.5 stars you ask? The airport is adjacent to the pool area and departing flights drown out normal conversation while at the pool or bar area. You don't hear them in the rooms. Otherwise the hotel was wonderful. Breakfast was great, with a large variety to choose from. The swim up pool fabulous with drinks on the tab to your room! Staff was super helpful and the area is secure. There is a great restaurant directly across the street and one more two doors down. The beach is honestly to far to walk (I am in excellent shape) while on vacation. Drive there early and get street side parking for free. Beds were comfortable, housekeeping was responsive. Besides are you really going to spend all your time int he hotel? Great place to stay for family's as we have a ten and eleven year old kids and they enjoyed it too. Airlines also use this hotel for their staff, which shows its good quality.

Pocket Guide: San Juan, Santurce Bar Hotels

San Juan is the capital of Puerto Rico, and its cultural hub. Half of the island’s population lives in the greater metropolitan area, and most visitors enter here as well. Old San Juan, with its cobblestone streets and old colonial architecture, lies on a small island connected to the mainland by bridges; it is guarded by 16th and 17th century forts, now World Heritage sites open to the public.
