Old, uncomfortable & Smoky Morrow Rock View Hotel
Posted Sep 13, 2016
We spent two nights at La Serena the weekend of the Margarita & Avocado Festival. We would have left after the first night if we thought that we could find another room. The town was busy. The room was old and probably hadn't been updated in fifty years (smelled old, too). The bed was soft with very thin sheets and cover. The deck had a view of Morrow Bay but in order to enjoy it you had to endure the smoke from the guest in the room below us. Also very noisy at night with motorcycles under our window. . Parking lot below us. We called the hotel desk about the smoking and was told that the guests were contacted. The same thing happened the following day, so were they? and this was supposed to be a non-smoking hotel. We complained to the front desk after the first night about the bed, screen door with a big hole. sliding door and closet door that didn't work and the smoking. We asked if they had another room we could move to. They had a suite on the opposite side and we hoped that we would not have the issue again with the smoker. The made us pay an extra $10 for it on top of the $220 a night we had already paid. We moved into the suite and found the bed to be very tacky looking but was a little firmer. The sheets and bedspread old and not comfortable. Breakfast was included but was nothing special. The festival was crowded and didn't offer much besides long lines to pay for margaritas or other food items. All in all, not impressed with Morro Bay this trip
