Average stay

Pros: I enjoyed the pool and the air conditioning in the room. The café at the hotel also served very delicious food. Family friendly.
Cons: The staff at check-in was nice but didn't seem very enthused or welcoming.
Location: The area is very beautiful. There are wineries and plenty of restaurants to visit. Pismo Beach is just 20 minutes away.
The hotel was clean upon arrival. I was out of the hotel most of the day but it was a comfortable sleep and a quiet area. Parking was a little tight. The pool was nice but not heated which I prefer.

Uncaring Owners

The only good thing about our stay at the San Luis Obispo Ramada was that were were able to upgrade to a larger room for only $20. While the rooms were fairly neat there were issues with stains on the sheets and on the sofa. The sofa itself was old and saggy. Items from the last guests were left in the refrigerator. The free continental breakfast was underwhelming. The biggest problem was that the room below us was rented to some college kids and they had a loud, profanity laced party from 10:00 PM until 3:00 AM. We repeatedly called the front desk and the clerk promised that they would take care of it but they never did. We pretty much lost an entire night's sleep. When I asked to be compensated for the inconvenience I was told that the owner would get back to me. They never did. I do not recommend this hotel.

One night stand

Pros: Nothing.
Cons: Management and housekeeping staff need a training seminar on basic cleaning techniques. Needs to be some accountability.
Location: The location to downtown, the college, and nearby areas is very good.
Needed accommodations for one night on a weekend and not pricey. Hard to find in SLO. Numerous reviews said the hotel rooms were not clean. Took a chance since the reviews were dated and management comments sounded like they were making strides to improve. Well the reviews were correct and management doesn't walk the talk. There was what appeared to mold on the tile in the shower, something appeared to have been spit on the mirror next to the bed, and had obviously been on the mirror for some time. The bed linens were clean which allowed us to catch some sleep and move on. This Ramada was nothing like any of the Ramada Inns I've stayed in elsewhere.

Upon arrival into the room, there was a strong aroma of cleaning supplies. Not necessarily a bad thing, until I looked at how clean everything was. There was leftover hair in the bathroom from the previous guests and the sheets had stains on them. When housekeeping cleaned the room the next day, they took all of towels, but did not leave any. I called the front desk to ask for more and did not receive any towels for about 2 hours. I know that this is a cheap place to stay and you get what you pay for, but the lack of attention to detail is very frustrating, especially in terms of the cleanliness of the room.

A disappointment.

Pros: Location - near downtown.
Cons: Appearance of rooms - sort of dungy
Location: Old Mission and railroad museum very interesting.
Hotel room and restaurant rest room definitely needed fresh coat of paint. Very lacking in neatness. Staff at restaurant very good.

Crappy place to stay, even Motel 6 is a bit better

Staff is rude and are very slow at what they're doing. The walls are thin so you can hear everything from your neighbors room. Our phone was broken so we couldn't call the front desk. The bed creaked and made noise everytime you moved. The complimentary breakfast was stale bagels, and muffins along with some water downed juice. Horrible place to stay, don't waste your money here!

Large Rooms, Horrible Customer Service

We have 5 kids, so finding hotel rooms large enough at an affordable price is difficult. And finding a room with a closed off bedroom is even harder. We were initially very impressed. The size of the room was very large, and there were 3 total bedrooms, 2 of which had doors for privacy. Most "kitchens" are just a nook with a microwave and a fridge. This had a full kitchen, with a full sized fridge, microwave, stove and sink. There was also a breakfast bar to sit at and 2 tables to eat at. In addition, there was a balcony that backed the creek which was very tranquil. However, the cleaniness of the room left something to be desired. Within 5 minutes our socks were black on the bottom; which likely means they never mop. The TV was too small and too far away to watch in the main living area. The breakfast was just packaged muffins and pastries, with bad coffee and the juice didn't even resemble juice anymore. Despite the cleanliness, the other items were tolerable. However, the staff was very rude at times. For example, on our check out day, the cleaning staff knocked on our door at 8am to clean the room. We told them we weren't ready, and they got snippy. They wanted to know exactly when we would be gone. I told them check out is 11, so it would be several hours. Not only were they pushy and rude, they camped out in front of our room until we left. Every time we brought bags to the car they would jump up and ask if we were done. It was really annoying.

Definitely worth our stay the price was so inexpensive that it's not what I expected for such little price. Looking forward to another stay.

Hotel was close to freeway, it has great restaurants surrounding it. Also close to downtown SLO. The hotel has friendly staff, but maybe needs to have staff on 24hrs instead of having to wait till 7:30am to open.
