Simple old-fashioned motel, friendly manager

Posted Sep 15, 2017
Pros: Well located, friendly staff.
Cons: One of these days, the carpet in the room I had might need to be replaced.
Location: San Luis Obispo is a college town, the college being Cal Poly. The restaurants, bars and shops downtown are fun to visit, busy with students.
This property is on a row of old-fashioned motels on what's now a city street, and was formerly on Highway 101 itself before a bypass was opened many years ago. It's close, but not within easy walking distance, to the wonderful downtown restaurants and stores in the center of San Luis Obispo, and a short drive to the Cal Poly campus. It's exactly what you'd want and expect from a straightforward, classic motel operation. Well maintained and clean. A coffee maker and supplies were provided; there was a small refrigerator in the room. The manager who checked me in tried hard to be as helpful as she could. I'd stay here again.

credit card payment policy is not clear

Posted Jun 7, 2017 on Hotels
overall, the room and the stay was good. the manager (male) is a bit hard to communicate with. Villa Motel advertises that it takes American Express card for payment. however, this applies only to reserving the room. they DO NOT take Amex for the actual room rent payment. this needs to be made clear in advance.

Just a one night stay

Posted May 14, 2017 on Hotels
The location was good. It was within walking distance from the mission and Down town. The rooms do need updating. For the price, it was ok for a one night stay.

Not what I hoped

Posted May 1, 2017 on Hotels
The price was right and the room wasn't dirty, it just was plain. The bed was not comfortable and the pillows were flat but the sheets were clean. The bathroom was clean and the carpets weren't gross. Hotel is too far to walk to down town.
