The hotel is very close to Accademia Bridge which made the water taxi very convenient. We could walk to basically anywhere within a few minutes. We walked to St. Mark's Square within about 10-15 minutes, strolling, not hurried. The hotel staff were fantastic, so helpful. The room overflowed with character. The hotel itself, is right on the canal, we left our windows open at night it was relaxing just hearing the water.

Pocket Guide: San Marco, Venice City Center Historic Hotels

San Marco (St Mark’s) is quintessential visitors’ Venice. The Piazza San Marco, famous for its pigeons, campanile, basilica, Palazzo Ducale (Doge’s Palace) and expensive cafes, is unmissable. The waterfront views are legendary and more gondolas depart from here than anywhere else in the city. In season the Piazza teems with day trippers though just a block or two away streets are quiet and offer more museums and palaces to explore.
