Great hotel

Almost everything was great on this last trip. I got upgraded because of my Expedia Gold status, got a nice room with a great view, the staff was always nice and I got access to the Executive Lounge, which is a great VIP benefit. The Executive Lounge is supposed to close at 11:00 PM, but on both nights I stayed they closed at 10:00 PM. Plus the breakfast food was actually not that good at the lounge as I feel they just put whatever old food they have since the lounge is usually empty (I could be wrong and the food might not be old, and it could just be plain bad).

Nice hotel, broken elevators

I got stuck inside the elevator and it was a very lame experience. They need to fix those elevators as they are very old.

Nice Hotel in very good area

Pros: Good hotel installations and service. Good location.
Cons: Spa hours and services are too restrictive on holidays.
Location: Shopping malls very close and good restaurants.
We stayed with my family for 2 nights. The hotel is very close to good restaurants and shopping centers. It´s also in one of the safest locations of the city. The only downside is that we stayed for the 23 and 24 of December so there were loud parties in other hotels nearby. Overall experience was ok.

Was this supposed to be VIP?

I did not get ANY perk for being Expedia gold. Check in was at 2:00 PM, I arrived at 3:30 PM and the room was not even ready so I had to wait. The main reason why I always book at the Barceló San Salvador is because of the upgrades, but now what's the point? I won't get upgrades and my room wasn't ready. I was not happy with it. Of course, the hotel is great, but there are plenty of great hotels in San Salvador, you just have to go to the one that gives you the best. The Barceló did not give me the best on my last stay.

Beautiful hotel with superb service

Very nice, upscale hotel with excellent customer service. It is worth it to spend the few extra dollars for the "executive room", which includes a wonderful breakfast, snacks, and drinks through the day.

One of the Top 3 hotels in El Sal.

The executive room experience is superior. Everything was great. They are doing some remodeling and that's a bit uncomfortable, especially in the parking lot. Once they are done, this will be one of the Top 3 hotels in El Sal (And I've stayed at them all).

Nice place for a 12 hour layover

We had a 12 hour layover in San Salvador and need a place to spend the night. All the airport hotels looked not as nice as we'd like. It was a 45 min drive into town (the hotel arranged private transportation). The hotel was clean and the staff friendly. The rooms needed little things updated, like the vents and paint touch up. Besides that it was a nice place to spend the night. The surrounding neighborhood was clean and safe.
