Up a hill in San Sebastián

Posted Jul 11, 2017
Charmless hotel. About 1 km from beautiful beach--up a huge hill. Transport by public bus nearby. Had a great time in San Sebastián--chose the hotel, because it had parking. But the hotel was off the beaten trail and could have been in any city anywhere.

Very pleasant stay. Friendly and helpful staff. Great location for the buses into town. Old town vibrant at weekend good tapas bars and friendly atmosphere. Can't wait to visit again.

Good hotel with free car parking.

Pros: Breakfast was very good and there is also a sun deck where you can relax with a drink before heading into town.
Cons: Nothing
Location: Due to it's location there isn't much to do close by but it's not too long a walk to San Sebastian centre.
We spent 6 nights at the Palacio de Aiete and enjoyed our stay. The main reason for choosing this hotel was for the free parking, but the hotel's staff and facilities were very good. There options for breakfast were excellent and continually replenished and was served until 10.30 weekdays and 11.00 at weekends. We ate in the restaurant one evening which was fine and the menu choice was good and a reasonable price. Due to the location it is a good 20 minute walk to Ondarata Beach and around 40 mins to the old quarter; we were happy to walk but a number of guests take taxis into town.

Not a four star hotel.

Very uncomfortable beds. Aircon not working. Staff were friendly, but could not really do much. Definitely not a four star hotel.
